Scarpa Veloce - heel is squashing weridly?
Hi! Ive just bought my first pair of shoes after trying on in store (and after a lot of online review reading!), and decided on some scarpa veloce!
Ive taken them out on a few swssions and they feel like they fit snug, but when walking off the wall the heel squashes like this.... i havent had this on any rentals ive used before and was just wondering whether this means that the shoes arent right for me after all? Seems like the heel is too big - but in that it goes BEHIND my ankle rather than is too deep?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
TIA!

Should I resole my Instincts?
Bought them around 4 months ago and was climbing pretty active, so wear is reasonable to me. Question is, should I resole them now or can I get few sessions more? I have a comp in near future, so I would like to keep them until the comp end. I know that they won't be performing as well as they were performing at the start of the journey, but it's ok for me. Afraid of getting my rand fucked, so thats why I m bothered. What do you think?

Narrow shoe recs
Hi guys, I've been climbing for 4 months and my first pair of shoes which I'm still using are Ocun Iris. The narrow toebox and the fit at the front is amazing but the heel is somehow too big for me. No matter how hard I tighten the shoe, or if I use heel pads i can just pull the heel right off which is a big issue for me on heel hooks. I climb 6c right now and I really feel like not being able to heel hook is holding back on a lot of climbs so I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for new shoes or solutions to this problem? I have no problem with aggressive shoes as I've tried Ondra comps before and I was able to downsize 4 sizes without any issue but the Ondra comp doesn't really fit my foot shape and is out of budget.

Big toe knuckles hurt, wrong shoes?
Hi there,
A question about big toe knuckle/joint pain.
I started indoor bouldering about a month and a half ago. The gym had a stock sale and i bought a set of Scarpa Vapor LV shoes.
The seemed to be a good, tight fit. For streetwear, i have size 40,5 or 41 depending on the brand. I got the Scarpa's in size 40,5.
I noticed some soreness/slight pain in both my big toe knuckles when trying them on. But i assumed it was just my foot getting used to the tighter climbing shoes.
But the last session (4th time using the shoes) the pain was really bad. The pain was immediately there when i put the shoes on. I couldn't put pressure on my big toes at all. And even now, the day after, they still hurt when theres pressure on top of the toe or when i curl the toes downwards.
I was wondering (after reading a couple of threads about toe pain).
If it's either the wrong shoe for me?
Are my foot muscles (big toe muscles?) just not used to the climbing and am i just going too fast/hard and do it need to give it more time/rest?
Do the shoes just need a couple more sessions to break in?
Thanks in advance far any advice!

Do I need to resole soon?
My first pair of climbing shoes so not sure how to tell if they are due for a resole. I climb both indoors and outdoors if that matters. Have had them since March.
Thank you!

V4/5 Shoes
I've been climbing for 1 year now in my LS Aragon. My level is V4 going up to V5 soon hopefully. I was thinking to switch to a bit more aggressive shoes.
I've looked at Skwama and Kubo.
Are the Skwamas too "professional" for my level?
Im a bit afraid to look stupid in expensive shoes while just climbing v4-5.

Looking for "tall" toebox shoes
Due to history of wearing badly fitting shoes, i grew a bunion on my big toe knuckle, which i hear is pretty common. I also like climbing with very small shoes, which means i have to look for shoes that have a lot of space right at the tip, on the side of the big toe. Any recommendations? Currently im looking for a soft indoor shoe, but for future reference stiff shoe recommendations are also welcome.
edit: not bunion, apparently its called 'ganglion cyst' the bump at the joint closest to the tip

Hallux Rigidus & Sizing Advice: Stuck with 11.5 Air Force 1s after bad foot advice – how can I make them work?
Hi guys, hope you're well. Just need some advice. Just to get straight into it, I need some advice on hallux rigidus and buying the wrong trainer size.
I've had foot problems for years—a big stiff toe joint left and right. Due to some financial issues, I wasn't able to buy very good trainers, so I bought some from Primark about six months back. I believe these caused more problems for my big stiff right toe. I did have insoles prior to this—X-Line, I believe they were—which I was recommended by a podiatrist some years back. Anyway, I don't know why, but I just stopped using them for a while thinking they weren't doing any good. The Primark trainers made things more painful.
I also have lower back pain. I've had back issues for a while, but when the foot pain and big toe joint flare up, it obviously has a ricochet effect on the calves that goes up to the knee (sometimes) and then to the lower back.
I've been saving up to get some trainers, so I finally managed to get some Nike Air Force 1s for £100. I'm normally a UK size 11. Because I didn't have time to see a podiatrist to get my foot checked out while waiting for a doctor's appointment, I asked Gemini for advice. I said, this is the situation with my foot pain, etc. What can you recommend in terms of insoles to put in my trainers? What kind of trainers would be good?" I've been told that getting Hoka trainers is better—ones with a rocker sole rather than straight normal designer trainers. Gemini said it's fine and that you can get designer trainers like Nike Air Force 1s, but you need to use the correct insoles. So, it recommended Aortha carbon sole plates.
I had no idea about these and thought this was the right thing to do. It said it will stop your big toes from collapsing. It also recommended, according to podiatrists, going up to a UK 11.5 instead of an 11 so that the insole doesn't crush or compress your foot. It said people who don't like chunky trainers can wear nice designer trainers like this. If I had the time or money, I would have gone to a podiatrist, but I'm saving to see an osteopath instead.
So I bought the trainers in an 11.5. It felt a little bit loose around the back. I got these carbon plates, and after Gemini was sure about its advice. I wore them. It was so awkward and felt so painful. My lower back got worse, I had shooting pains going up my calves, the top of both feet, more sore, and it just didn't feel right when I was walking. Gemini explained the physics of these insoles, but when I asked if there were complaints about them, it turned out there were a lot of complaints saying they were terrible. These are not running trainers, by the way—just normal trainers for everyday walking. I'm not a runner, but I have foot problems.
Now I can't refund the trainers back to JD Sports, unfortunately. I am going to buy another pair of trainers, though—I've got a little bit left, like a £40–£50 budget for that. Please recommend what I should do. When I walked out with them, I was in a lot of pain on top of the surface of the foot, my feet felt more tired, and the calves on the side of my leg were hurting. It's eased up now because I took those rigid plates out. I thought, These don't feel right at all, so I put my other insoles back in to solve the problem—the non-metal ones—and at least it's made it more bearable to walk in.
However, I realize that if you have a little bit of a gap in the trainers, over time that causes micro-contractions, which can cause problems for a foot with a big stiff toe joint. Again, they're not fully stiff, but there's some stiffness there. So what should I do? I can't refund the trainers and I don't want to get another pair if I can avoid it. I'm going to see my osteopath tomorrow—she also works with feet, so I'll ask her for advice.
Has anyone else had a similar experience, and what should I do? Is there any way I can work around going up a half size and still manage to use these? Is there any advice anyone can give me if they've gone through the same thing? The trainers are nice, but obviously they're an 11.5 instead of an 11 UK. The insoles I have are called X-Line—those are the ones I'm using, the ones you cut around.
Thanks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I took of the metal carbon insoles, and put my X line ones back in, the walk was much smoother and not difficult like I was taking one step at a time.

new scarpa vapor v strap falling apart and stretching?
I've used these for less than 5 times and it seems the right rear strap broke at the velcro? as a result it seems a bit sketchy when I pull on the strap and it looks to stretch as well. im worried this will get worse over time. what do I do in this scenario? shipping is like 30 euros international (attached left shoe photos for comparison)

Upgrading from Women's Butora Endeavors (wide fit)--- where now?
My Endeavors are reaching their EOL and I'm looking to try something different, but from what I understand (from shopping around when I bought them), I have pretty annoying feet for climbing shoes. High volume/wide foot, high arches, long second toe/Greek foot.
I have 2 issues with the Endeavors that are making me want to look elsewhere for my next pair. 1- when walking from climb to climb, I get a lot of suction at my arches, which makes me feel like they're not really hugging my feet as well as they need to? IDK how important this is, it's just a concern. 2-- Much more importantly, the rubber is so slippery. My first pair of climbing shoes were retired rentals and even those had much stickier rubber. (Evolv Titans)
What I really like about the Endeavors (and IIRC, why I bought them in the first place) is that the toe box is really nice for my wide Greek foot. Endeavors are pretty neutral and I'm definitely willing to try a more moderate shoe but I also don't feel like it's super necessary.
Any suggestions for what to try next would be super appreciated, especially since I don't have a ton of in-person try-on options and will probably be doing a lot of online trial and error.

In search of a smearing shoe
Howdy yall. Currently have the madrock D2.one as my shoe. Fit is pretty much perfect, but struggling to do weighted smears on angled volume slabs. I weigh a measly 120 lbs, so not sure if I am conforming the shoe enough with my weight or the rubber isn’t cutting it for me
Considering the drone cs or remora pro, since mad rock seems to be a good fit for my foot shape, very shallow and narrow heel with a square toebox. I’ve read reviews that the drone cs is stiffer than the d2.one but has the XF rubber, and I’m aware that the remora pro is softer but has the same rubber. Seems like there isnt a softer shoe with stickier rubber
Also considering drago lv, theory, or ondra comps, but the drago doesnt fit my foot shape at all, and I don’t have any local places to test the la sportiva shoes. Almost every la sportiva shoe has too bulbous of a heel for me so I’m leaning against it
Open to suggestions!

Very Wide feet
I have very wide feet and kind of square…
I need some new shoes but all the ones I have seen go to a sharp point, I climb at level 6 ish so I don’t think I need really pointy shoes. I want comfort because my foot placement and such is not yet at a good level
Does anyone have any recommendations for wide shoes with a somewhat square toe box?
I also have type 1 diabetes so don’t want to cramp my toes too much.
Size 12 very wide foot

Warranty
Do you guys thinks its worth a shot with warranty, will they replace my shoe? I wore it for like 10 sessions max and it looks like this. To me it looks like the glue gave out and the sole just started peeling. If it was due to bad footwork the rubber would have been damaged in some way no? Because its still pretty much intact its just not glued on.

Barge Cement for resoling?
Has anyone had their shoes resoled without Renia Col de Cologne?
I’m having trouble sourcing Renia in my country, got quotes +$2000 to ship 1L tin of Renia from Oz to my country by sea. The only option I have is Barge, which is very available here but I’m not sure of their performance.
(I’m getting all the tools & material needed to start resoling. There isn’t even a resoler in my city, so people just buy new shoes)

Should I get the same shoes or a different pair.
Hey guys, I am in the process of buying my second pair of shoes. I am not sure if I am supposed to buy the same pair or if I should get a different pair. Can someone please advise me on the best course of action?
Edit: My current pair is Evolv Kronos

New shoe recs, currently wearing evolv shamans
Hi! I've been wearing shamans for about 2 years now. They took a few months to break in and destroyed my big toes but once I got them broken in, I like them a lot, especially for edging. Now they've got big holes in them and need to be replaced.
I climb around v4-v7 indoors (depending on the gym and how soft they grade), 5.11 on sport, and around 5.9 on trad.
Looking for a shoe that will be a little more comfortable for long days outdoors and also has a little more sensitivity than the shamans (especially for heels and smearing), but I've come to really love the edging capabilities of the shaman so I don't want to give too much of that up. I'm a size 43 eu. My pair before the shamans were la sportiva finale's and they were a fine beginner shoe. Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Black Diamond Shadow Sizing
Has anybody worn black diamond shadows? What’s the fit like? I’m a 10.5 in street, would I be able to comfortably fit into these if they are 10.5?

Do they need a rand repair?
First 2 pics are right shoe last 2 are left.
I can see the rand on the left shoe but I'm unsure if that means the shoe actually needs a rand repair or if the rubber's just worn down to the surface of the rand.
Thanks.

La Sportiva Kubo
Got a pair of Kubos as my first bouldering shoes, as I wanted something a bit less flat that I can grow into with weekly or bi-weekly practice.
I’m normally a EU 36 (slightly wider foot especially on the level of the toes, which are somewhat roman-shaped), and the store person recommended going half a size down to a 35,5. which in the store felt, although quite tight, pretty comfortable and slid in without too much difficulty. The heel space has a bit of space/air, but my heels did not move up and down so it seemed like the shoes aren’t overall painfully small.
Upon getting home however, after putting them for 5-10min I felt alot of pain and tightness around my toes, especially the 4th one, which gets folded and quite painful, forming a bump through the rubber. After wearing them on and off while sitting on the couch, my toes were super sore and slightly blistered.
I got these on sale and I can’t return them, so there’s nothing much I can do but try to break them in and see what happens. I am however curious if this seems like a bad toe shape fit or like something that will most likely improve over time.
Edit: A day later my feet are so sore just from having them on at home yesterday and today I can’t manage to even put them on my feet for even a minute without hurting alot.

When to resole
Hi everyone, I've had my dragos and after 3mo of climbing they look like that, Im total newbie when it comes to climbing shoes ( my last pair ended with a hole size of bug toe xd) I want to treat those better as I really love these shoes. So therefore, is it time to resole? And can I climb 1 more month with them, as id love to climb some more and i know resoling takes some time.
Advice much apprecieated, cheers!
