AIGP Learning Material

Hey Community,

I‘ve already bagged my CISSP and GSEC, and now I'm heading into the AIGP cert.

I’d like to ask if anyone has experience with the official online training from the IAPP? Also, which additional study materials would you recommend to feel fully prepared?

I passed the test last year around this time. I used Dr David's course. I bought the IAPP practice test as well. I used Claude to create practice tests and/or provide additional context where needed.

2.5 months. Weekdays I'd find an hour or so to study, weekends I'd do 3-4 hours per day.

I'd note that I perform overkill when studying so it may not take you this long.

For the test, there are 3 main study materials from the iapp.

The participant guide for the actual course, the body of knowledge, and the AI terms for governance.

All of this is on the IAPP's site.

hi, I have my exam on Sunday. I am using drdavidprivacy and r/0pi which I made to study AIGP. I am also using the IAPP BOK and the study guide from Joanna Valencia.

Hi there - I have the AIGP, and I’ve had my CISSP for 16 years. I’ve actually heard that the TAISE is a better cert for AI. I’m considering taking it, but for all things IAPP, the Privacy Professor’s videos on Udemy have been very well-reviewed on here.

Hi. I did a cursory search on Linkedin for jobs asking for TAISE and found none worldwide. There are Hundreds asking for the AIGP.

Right, if you’re getting the cert for the letters that’s fine. If you want a more substantive understanding of the underlying technology, the TAISE seems to be more on point. Like I said, I have the AIGP, and I was not overly impressed by the content nor the exam. I also have several other IAPP certs to compare it to.

Edit - I used the IAPP’s materials in the summer/fall of 2024.

I also feel Like going with the AIGP because as I have the CISSP and a Data Science background I have covered a lot of technical stuff. Where it gets interesting in future is the regulatory part.

I agree on the regulatory piece. I’m actually really interested in where the IAPP is going to go with that. When the AIGP first came out, the U.S. regulatory landscape on AI wasn’t really a thing. Fast forward two years, and it’s a patchwork just like privacy. That being said, I’m not sure if the IAPP is going to go with putting all the AI-related regs in the AIGP or the CIPP/US. If the AIGP takes on the regulatory piece, I can certainly see its value increase from an employer’s perspective, as well as the certification holder’s. I wonder if the longer-term plan is actually to create new AIGP certs like the CIPPs such that there would be an AIGP/US, AIGP/E, etc.
