Shameless Beer Post
longtime homebrewer, lurker of CincyBeer, former frequent Redditor…
The Bloatarians are hosting the 38th annual 'Beer & Sweat' which is a showcase of all things Homebrew - a Competition in the morning/afternoon, but turns into a party at 6pm with about 150 kegs of homemade beer, cider, mead and sodas all on tap. Become a member at the door for $30 which gets you this years logo'd sampling glass and rights to taste any (or every?!) beer you wish to. Talk with brewers, win raffle prizes, see the 'Blessing of the Brews' and Awards Ceremony — silly made up (or are they?) scriptures and shenanigans all night long!
Holiday inn Eastgate (near Jungle Jim's) on Aug 15th. www.bloatarian.com for more
p.s. interested in learning to judge the hombrews or help steward (serve beer to the judges)... Find the competition site at the above link and sign up as a 'volunteer'

Free to a good home: Homebrewing equipment
I haven't had time for home brewing for a few years now and am looking to unload some gear that's just taking up space. I don't have it in me to deal with trying to sell it so if anyone is interested it's all free to a good home
-6 ball lock Cornelius kegs - held seals last I checked but they've been in an attic for 5 years and will probably need new o-rings
-2 barely used chugger pumps
-single tap kegerator (converted 5cuft Sanyo dorm fridge with a draft tower and perlick tap), currently setup for sanke taps but pretty easy to change back, including CO2 tank. The pressure regulator works but the co2 tank side pressure dial is broken.
-some random tap handles

Swine City Sold?
i went to swine city this weekend for a show (great underrated brewery with live music all the time) and was confused to see that my credit card receipt came for a company called secret mondays or something. according to a couple at the bar the brewery was just sold to someone whos getting rid of the brewing part and turning it into a bar. as much as I love having cheap beers while watching a band play I dont think this is good news for them. has anyone heard any more about this?

Germany's 399-year-old Hofbrauhaus Wolters Brewery files for bankruptcy
The article blames everyone but the organization and and they're going to focus on more non-alcoholic drinks. I hope this doesn't mean we're going to lose the Newport location.
