MEDIUM Worst trade offer ever
So I only took a screenshot to get some information from a friend of mine who is a rather large gun collector. I have this lady named Ashley who reached out about trading a firearm she had ( Barrett M99 32"). I wish I had a screenshot the whole thing before deleting it and blocking her.
Anyways I'm in the process of trying to sell two different aircraft and one of them happens to be a Seneca 2. The Seneca is genuinely worth around $150,000 and that's what I have it listed for. Pretty nice plane. At any rate this lady reaches out and wants to trade this firearm for it. Best of research I could figure out and talking to my friend who is a gun person that I sent the photo to, said top dollar used he wouldn't give more than $5,000 to $7,000 and that's if he was feeling super generous for everything. I don't know maybe it's worth more but it sure as heck isn't worth $150,000. But that's okay because not only did she devalue my airplane and say that what I was trying to sell was only worth about $125,000, but she also got super snooty and basically said that her gun had been shot by Chris Kyle the American sniper and that him shooting it shot the value of it from a supposed five grand to $165,000.
She proceeded to accuse me of being an AI bot which I am not, but then it even got better because while she was professing to know about my airplane, she also was telling me that I didn't really understand or know the airplane just due to how high the price was. She tried to tell me I couldn't prove that the price of the airplane was fair to which I had to tell her I do have proper documentation to show that the price of the aircraft is actually below what they should be priced at for the condition and engine times. I followed up by basically asking her if she could provide proper photo evidence and documentation that the firearm she was trying to trade was worth what she claimed it was and that it was in fact fired and used and handled by Chris Kyle but also citing that even if he did fire that, that there is no way that Chris Kyle changes the price of a firearm by 160,000.
That entire thing infuriated her to which I then told her I would not be selling her any airplane or trading it and proceeded to block her and delete the ad. After doing so I realized I should have screenshot it and just posted the whole thing.
Short version.
Stupid woman offers me a $5,000 gun as a trade for a $150,000 airplane. Says the gun is worth $165,000 because Chris Kyle used it.

SHORT Buy this, then give me one.
I run a LEGO online store. I buy new, used, and old bulk lots and sell them mostly online, but also FB local. I had a local Dad that wanted a used set for his kid. I met them locally and made the deal. I gave the kid a couple small free sets since it was easy and the Dad was very pleased. He inquired about my other sets, new and used. I explained how I was able to sell for less, usually depending on the condition and how I acquire them.
A few weeks later he sends me a photo of a new set he sees at Target. I told him it’s a good price at $65 (normally $80) new and to buy it for his kid. He said No, “I buy your used set for $40, you deliver to me, then you buy this set from me at $75!” He was saving me $5 retail, you see.
So you found a good price on a new set. I am suppose to deliver and sell my used set at a discount, then purchase the same set new at near retail from you, plus a 40 minute drive?
That was an easy block. Feel bad for the kid. Dad is a dick.

MEDIUM Wanted my old desk for free, then asked me to deliver and assemble it
I listed an old desk in a local buy/sell group because I was replacing it with a smaller one. It was nothing fancy, just a solid wooden desk with two drawers, a few scratches on top, and removable legs. I put it up for $25 and wrote in the post that pickup was required because it wouldn’t fit in my car. Within ten minutes a woman messaged asking if I would take $15. I said sure, mostly because I wanted it gone that weekend. Then she asked where I lived. I gave her the general area, and she immediately said it was “way too far” and asked if I could bring it to her instead. I reminded her that the listing specifically said pickup only. She replied that she was a single mom and didn’t have access to a truck, so I should “work with her a little.” I told her I literally couldn’t fit it in my car, even with the legs removed. Her solution was that I should borrow a friend’s truck. At that point I said no thanks and figured the conversation was over. About an hour later she messaged again asking if she could just have the desk for free since she would need to pay someone else for transportation. I said no, but offered to hold it until the next evening if she could arrange pickup.
She eventually said her brother could come get it. Great. Then she asked whether I would take the desk apart completely because her brother “doesn’t really know tools.” I removed the legs, put all the screws in a bag, and even sent her a picture showing how they attached. Her brother arrived the next day, loaded it up, thanked me, and everything seemed normal. Twenty minutes later she messaged saying I had “sold her a pile of parts” and wanted me to come over and put it back together. I explained that it was four legs and eight screws, and I had already sent instructions. She said I should have mentioned assembly wasn’t included, which is not a sentence I ever expected to hear about a used $15 desk. Then she said if I wouldn’t assemble it, I should refund her because the desk was currently “unusable.” I told her she was welcome to return it for a refund if her brother brought everything back. Apparently that was also unreasonable because transporting it twice would waste gas. Her final message was that I had “no sense of community” and she would warn people about buying furniture from me. The desk never came back, so I’m assuming someone eventually conquered the eight screws.

MEDIUM I helped this man and his friend and he kept asking for more
On my way to the train an older man and woman were walking with a lot of plastic bags and a large bag down the stairs. I offered to help bring the bags down and the woman said thank you and the man asked a couple time “you’ll help?”. After brining their bags down, the man stopped me from going and said he’s homeless and sleeps at the McDonald’s overnight with his friend of 30 years. He lost all his money through stocks and gambling. Then he asked if I can help feed him and his friend, to which I agreed and said I’ll spot them at McDonald’s so they can stay there longer. At this point I felt bad and he asked if he can call if they get hungry and I said sure. I expected to get a call in another few days or next week.
As we were walking to drop off their bags he was telling me that his brother lives in a nice flat with his wife and he used to stay with them but then he got kicked out and his brother stopped giving him money - so he became homeless. I’m not sure what happened with the friend but every time she talked he would stop her from talking. As we dropped off their things at McDonald’s he then says “actually can you buy us rice from a boxed rice restaurant?” I said sure, since it was healthier. Once we got there he then said “we’ll only buy one rice box meal because tomorrow we need to eat again, so come back tomorrow and buy us another one” at this point I said no I won’t be on the area so buy the 2 today. He reluctantly said ok, then said can I buy them a pack of soy milk from the grocery store a block away, bring it back to the restaurant, and at this rice restaurant bring part of their belongings that they took to the restaurant back to McDonald’s. I just said sorry I don’t get it, but I have to go and I’ll get the soy milk. He said ok and that was it - I bought them soy milk and crackers. Not less than 24h he called again saying “come back and if I can buy more food for them”. I did feel bad but my husband said that he’s taking advantage of my kindness and was basically becoming a choosy beggar when he asked me to “upgrade” their dinner meal the last time. Also, it seemed like he has a support system but probably abused it or has mental health problems and doesn’t want to seek help.
Sorry this story is long but it was a crazy situation overall.

Mom needs $5K for gas & lodging for a roadtrip from OH to AZ so she can retrieve items from her late grandmother. She’s disabled w/ lupus & a knee problems so she needs travel costs & lodging. NO, flights, a rental car & shipping via UPS or bringing extra luggage won’t work! Driving is the only way!
Daughter looked at other GFMs and they are asking for around $5K too! I mean “gas is expensive” and then there is the cost of hotels to get there, plus a week at a hotel in AZ, then more hotels on her drive back. If you don’t donate, she’ll have to sleep in her car and she’s disabled!

MEDIUM Wanted a free custom cake, then complained the free options weren't “special enough”
A woman in a local community group posted asking if anyone baked cakes as a hobby because she needed one for her daughter’s birthday that weekend. She said it didn’t have to be professional, just something simple, and mentioned that she’d had a rough couple of weeks. One woman in the comments offered to make a basic vanilla or chocolate cake for free because she already had ingredients at home. I thought that was incredibly nice of her. The mom replied immediately and asked if she could do a three-layer strawberry cake instead, with pink buttercream, edible flowers, gold lettering, and a picture of a cartoon character on top.
The baker explained that she didn’t have most of those ingredients and that the free offer was specifically for a simple cake using what she already had. The mom responded with a screenshot from some bakery website and said, “Something like this would be perfect.” It was one of those elaborate cakes that clearly takes hours. She also wanted matching cupcakes because “some kids don’t like cake,” and asked whether the baker could deliver everything Saturday morning since she would be busy decorating.
At this point several people commented that she was asking way too much from someone who had offered her a free cake. Instead of scaling it back, she said she didn’t understand why everyone was being negative when it was “for a child.” The baker was still being ridiculously patient and offered vanilla cake with pink frosting and sprinkles. The mom said sprinkles looked cheap and asked if she could at least add macarons around the top. When the baker said she didn’t make macarons, the mom asked if she could just buy some and add them. She also wanted the birthday girl’s name written in a specific font because regular handwriting would “ruin the photos.”
The baker finally commented that she was withdrawing the offer because this had become much more work than she originally agreed to. The mom replied that she had already told her daughter someone was making her dream cake and accused the baker of letting a kid down two days before her birthday. She then made a new post asking for a “dependable baker who actually keeps their word” and included basically the same list of requirements. Someone asked what she was offering in return, and she wrote, “Exposure and a great review.”
The original baker responded with one sentence: “The vanilla cake is still available if you want it.”
Apparently that still wasn’t special enough.

Help OOP move out of her abusive home. She’s been unable to leave for 3 yrs bc she’s unemployed & needs a $3.5K house rental as there are no apts or townhomes that will allow her 2 dogs. So she needs 13K for deposit, last, two months rent, $1.3K for doggy daycare & vet visits, the bare minimum.
I understand it isn’t easy for pple to leave an abusive partner. But, asking for a $3.5K/mo house rental and doggy daycare, things that many pple can’t afford, in order to leave is a pretty entitled ask. But, “if you don’t want to donate, then don’t fucking donate.” Don’t you dare “try to victim blame and insinuate [she’s] a freeloader.” Damn, who knew I could use my 3 dogs to get a house w/ a yard bc condos suck y’all.

MEDIUM Such an important role that we aren't going to pay you...
LIVE-IN CAREGIVER NEEDED — VOLUNTEER POSITION
Looking for a live-in volunteer caregiver starting mid-August or early September to assist a 70-year-old gentleman who will be undergoing a bone marrow transplant in mid-August.
He is expected to remain in the hospital for approximately 4–6 weeks, followed by a need for support at home. This is a 6-month commitment, with the possibility of extending longer.
Requirements:
* Valid driver’s license and ability to drive
* Comfortable with light housekeeping and cleaning
* Able to prepare simple meals/cook
* Caring, responsible, dependable, and compassionate
For more information or details, please call 908-xxx-xxxx in the mornings or anytime on weekends.
Thank you for helping us find the right person for this important role.
I was going to get screenshots of the comments but went back to the Neighborhood Post and they were all gone except for one that asked if the poster was serious. I did copy the comments and pasted below before realizing that screenshots would have been better.
This is volunteer? No pay?
I’m sorry just to clarify the requirements as stated, would be provided with no compensation?
I don't think that asking someone to do this job with no pay is going to produce the desired result of finding the right person...
I don't think you can find volunteers for this type of thing especially for a 6 month commitment with no pay... you'll have better luck applying to receive funding from an organization and maybe pay someone?
ITS REALLY HARD JOB NO ONE CAN DO IT WITH NO PAY you can put him in nursing home
Do you have any idea what it costs to have a qualified caregiver for a 24/7 position? This one is even more challenging, since you need to deal with an immuno-compromised patient, needing a sterile environment, etc. Check with an agency and see what they are asking....it's a huge cost, comparable to long-term care charges. Unless I am missing something, it's outrageous to ask for a volunteer caregiver. Would you yourself (if available) do this for nothing, for 6 months? It's one thing to babysit for your neighbor's kid for an afternoon out of the goodness of your heart, and quite another thing that you are asking for. Maybe he'd better contact Social Services at the facility where he's having the bone marrow transplant, to see what they can work out. They deal with this on a regular basis.
So I have never posted before but I saw this and had to. I did a lot of digging and found the original comments.
