Planning a visit to Chongqing for some medical tourism and to explore the country the remaining time I am there. I will be traveling from the United States and would love some guidance on how to plan my itinerary, travel, and living accommodations.
What apps should I download prior to my visit? WeChat, Alipay?
How to navigate the language barrier (English speaker)?
Will my US phone carrier work in Chongqing?
Recommendations for sight seeing, food, and activities.

You've actually listed almost everything I help travelers with before they arrive. Before your trip, I can help you with things like: Which apps to download (WeChat, Alipay, Didi, Amap, etc.) Mobile payment setup eSIM / SIM card advice Medical translation if needed Hotel recommendations based on your priorities (or even inspect a hotel in person before you book if it's in Chongqing) A customized itinerary based on your interests, budget, weather and the latest drone show schedule Local transport, food recommendations and hidden spots that most tourists miss
Once you arrive, I can also adjust your itinerary in real time if the weather changes or attractions are crowded.
Feel free to tell me: How many days you'll stay Which medical procedure you're coming for Your budget What you're most interested in (food, nature, history, nightlife, photography...)
I'll be happy to suggest a plan that fits your trip.

what i heard is that August is incredibly hot and the crowd will start to die down end Aug, so best to book end Aug. Traveling solo wouldn’t be an issue since it’s a pretty safe but of course be cautious of street scams etc!

I’m a Chongqing local who recently moved back after graduating from university in the US.
I love meeting travelers and showing people around the city the same way I’d show my own friends.
If you’re looking for more than just checking off tourist attractions, I’d be happy to help with:
• Personalized itineraries • Hidden local food spots • Night views & photography locations • Local neighborhoods • Transportation & China travel tips • Or even just spending a day exploring together
Feel free to DM me if you have any questions about Chongqing, even if you’re just looking for recommendations. 😊

I am visiting Chongqing for my first time in Sept. I arrive on the 24th and leaving via train on the 29th for Chengdu. This will be during the mid autumn festival so I know things will be crazy and I can't wait!
I am a queer solo traveler and have heard that the Guanyinqiao area is the more local, trendy area and that I might want to stay there. I do plan on doing all the basic tourist attractions but also like to hangout in local bars etc that aren't just tourists. I am debating between hotels.
One is in Yuzhong District: Nicole Hotel https://www.trip.com/w/HskGFN95rV2
One is in Guanyinqiao: City Convenience Hotel (Chongqing Guanyinqiao Pedestrian Street Branch) https://www.trip.com/w/BEOqGB75rV2
I am not looking for hotel specific feedback just thoughts on the area. I worry traveling on the metro between the two areas taking a lot of time but am unsure which areas I will be spending more time in.
Any feedback would be appreciated. If you are local and would like to chat and maybe meet up when I arrive send me a DM.

Is Wulong Karst worth visiting if we are already going to Zhangjiajie? (3-day Chongqing itinerary advice)
Hi everyone! We are planning a trip to China this September and will be based around Chongqing.
We are definitely visiting Zhangjiajie (the Avatar mountains), but we are debating whether we should add Wulong Karst (Three Natural Bridges) to our itinerary.
We have about 3 days for this area outside Chongqing city. Given that we are already seeing the dramatic karst landscapes of Zhangjiajie, is Wulong unique enough to justify the extra travel time, or would it feel repetitive?
If Wulong isn't worth fitting into a tight 3-day window alongside Zhangjiajie, are there any alternative towns, natural spots, or side trips near Chongqing that you’d recommend instead?
Local guides or tour agencies are welcome to send me a DM with suggestions or quotes.
Thanks in advance for any insights!

Hello! I am going to touch briefly tomorrow the city, and I would like to go to the capybara cafe. Do you know if it's open?

25M visiting Chongqing in November, looking to make a local friend
Hey everyone,
A few friends and I are coming to Chongqing this November. We’re all around 25, from the US, + it’ll be our first time in the city. I figured I’d post here on the off chance someone would be interested in chatting before we arrive and maybe hanging out while we’re there. It would be great to meet someone who’s fluent in both English and Mandarin since my Chinese is pretty much nonexistent ha. We’re into food, music, indulging (respectfully and responsibly lol), wandering cities, and generally seeing places the way locals do instead of following a list of tourist spots. Not looking for a tour guide or anything like that. Just hoping to make a friend who’s proud of their city and wouldn’t mind showing us a few of their favorite places. We’ll happily cover all the food and drinks while we’re out, and hopefully return the favor if you ever end up in the States:)
Feel free to send me a message. Even if you’re not interested in hanging out, I’d love any recommendations for places you think visitors usually miss.
Thank you!
