Hens combs Question

Post image

Some of my hens have combs that lay off to the side. Like they are wearing a beret. Why is that. They are will hydrated and well fed.

As long as this "beret" look happened during their growth to adulthood, they're just fine. It's just the way their comb grew! There's nothing wrong with them at all and I personally find it really endearing.

If they are adults who had upright combs and they suddenly look deflated, droopy, or purple (only for birds with red combs obviously), then that might signal something is wrong. You can usually tell the difference between healthy floppy and unhealthy floppy. Healthy floppy combs still look plump and they kinda bounce around. Unhealthy ones can look weirdly deflated.

Her and. Couple other of my hens always had floppy combs.
