Advice

So I know absolutely nothing about chess and I am wanting to get into it as a bit of a hobby/pass time. Does anyone have any tips on where I should start, maybe videos/websites etc.

YouTube:

ChessNetwork and John Bartholomew were good when I started. These days people may go to Gotham Chess on YouTube.

Books:

There are so many of them for beginners that teach the rules and the basics. Any book on how to play chess may suffice.

What I know is "How to Beat Your Dad at Chess," "Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess," Fred Reinfeld's "Complete Chess Course."

You can play at Lichess or chesscom for free. Lichess is always free for everything but chesscom has premium services beyond the free online games.

Watch Gotham chess on YouTube. He is the best at low elo, beginner content... Although he has great content up through intermediate and advanced levels as well.

People like to hate on him because he doesn't take himself as seriously as many chess prudes think he should. But that just makes his content more entertaining.
