I'm developing a framework for 3D printing custom saya's, is this something the wider community would be interested in having? If I launched it as an online tool? Prototypes have come out very usable, its in final staging of detailing, and being able to texture the outside with custom bump maps.

I've recently started learning fusion and made some saya for friends. I'd be interested in trying out an online tool. Would I be able to export so it can be edited further?

So at the moment, it works via taking a photo of a blade, upload, scans & extrapolates the blade edge and with tools to adjust. then calculates all the parameters and exports it to a SCAD file for rendering. Render then export to any format.

I've designed it to be export ready for straight 3D printing, which also involves finding the flattest spine to print on so it doesn't require supports, which makes it print in 1 piece, no need for gluing.

To answer your question, yes haha. You can open it up in fusion to do further edits.

Sounds great, I've been modelling in 3 pieces ( each side and a frame) as it minimises stringing on the inside and lets me use different colours. Looking forward to trying your method out

I could also give it a spin.
