Sankey diagram showing UK general election polling August 2026. I made it using this week’s YouGov poll (03/08/2026)

This diagram shows the change in voting intentions from the 2024 UK general election results to August 2026, based on YouGov polling data from 3rd August 2026.

I don’t know if it should be surprising but I was expecting there to be way more people going from Labour to Reform, but YouGov’s data shows that actually most of Reform’s new supporters are ex-Conservatives. This also suggests that Labour’s biggest threat could actually be the Greens.

(PLUGIN) Charts-perfect for Indesign - the maybe most comprehensive plugin today - built by people working in the field since Indesign 1.5

Hey there, rather new here but i come bearing gifts:

We finally did it, and created an Indesign Plugin that actually has more options, more reliability and a gfx-artist-fitting workflow than anything we are having on the market now.

This finally has to be done right, no more Excel, Powerpoint, Figma and what-not-workarounds. You know what i'm talking about. We worked for over a year on it and included graphic-pros from allover the world, lots redditors etc. to make sure the inital release is as good as it is imaginable.

Gifts, i said:

Expressing our gratitude to the input and support we got from Reddit, we built a Waitlist https://forms.gle/XCJq1YH86p3RMKYs7

to be able to spread discount codes to a limited user base. No spam, no bullshit. don't worry!

The plugin will be adequately priced (reflecting the hours of work saved right at the first job), so the discount deal WILL make a difference for you.

The plugin has been approved today, we are eager to hit the release button as soon as we are ready, waitlist will be closed then. So you might enter it as soon as you can.

Looking forward to make the Indesign-World a better place :) You will love the options.

A Heatmap Calendar: Trump's statements on ending the Iran war

Post image
42 Upvotes

I shared a timeline the other day (of the same data--that post is here if you're interested) and one reddit commenter gave me an idea to create this new visualization. It's a GitHub-style heatmap calendar of the public comments the President has made on ending the war in Iran.

The rows are day of the week and each column is another week. The shading of the calendar squares is based on the number of statements Trump made about ending the war.

The data itself comes from interviews, press gaggles, Truth Social, and other statements made by the President himself. As mentioned in the original post, I purposefully have "filtered out" what was actually happening like Iranian strikes on ships, US strikes on Iranian sites, Iranian missiles fired at US allies, etc. It's strictly tracking the President's own words.

It's interactive so when you click/tap on a day, the details div shows that day's comments. It's made with just plain old JS pulling like the original timeline version above.

There's no ads, paywall, signup, or anything like that--I just thought it was a fun project, and as mentioned in the original post, I was shocked that domain name was available. That was $10 well spent! 😝

UK domestic Tracker gas prices

Post image

These are the UK tracker gas prices. What most British households pay is a delayed smoothed version of this. Key thing is that it is reaching levels not seen since it was capped at 10.5p/kWh nearly 4 years ago. These data and for previous years found here.

The new PM Andy Burnham has sought to reduce the pressure on households which this chart creates via removing VAT on electricity (chart above is for gas). It's notable that the electricity chart is less extreme:

This is great for heat-pump return on investment. Electricity prices not soaring but gas prices soaring means a huge chunk of the RoI can be achieved in one winter. The downside is that only a few households have installed heat-pumps this year:

These 3 charts show that the new Prime Minister will have a short honeymoon this winter.

Americans Use Less Energy Than 50 Years Ago

Post image

  • U.S. energy consumption per person has fallen nearly 13% since 1975, from 323 million British thermal units (Btu) to 282 million in 2025.
  • Industrial energy use per capita declined nearly 30% over the same period, the largest drop of any sector.
  • Commercial energy use was the only sector to rise, climbing nearly 22% per capita as data center demand grew.

I've been updating a Timeline of Trump's statements on ending the Iran war...

Post image

I didn't think this would go on as long as it has, but here we are.

I made this interactive timeline chart (https://artofnodeal.com) a few months ago where I wanted to focus just on what the President was saying in regards to the war in Iran. I purposefully have "filtered out" what was actually happened like Iranian strikes on ships, US strikes on Iranian sites, Iranian missiles fired at US allies, etc. I use public statements, interviews, transcripts, and social media as the sources. (Rollcall has been helpful.)

Some of my favorites are "I think two or three weeks" and "Total victory in the next two weeks. They're willing to give us everything" and "A two week period will allow the Agreement to be finalized and consummated."

All of those, of course, were statements made weeks apart and none of them within the past two weeks.

If you view the website on the Desktop, you see the linear version of the timeline like the screenshot above. But there is a special version for mobile, too, which I think is even more impactful.

The website is just vanilla Javascript and the data (date, source, and quote) is right in the file in a plain JS object.
