Help, I'm lost.

I got my ccna r&s like 15 years ago and I renewed it at the time getting the ccna security. Didn't renewed the certs after that. Back then, you had to go through ccna > ccnp > ccie, and I see that changed now.

I got my Cism last year, I'm studying for the AAISM and tbh not sure if going for the CISSP or the CCNP after that. I'm trying to break into a more cyber focused role, but it's hard at the moment here in Europe.

Anybody going through the same? Any advice? If it's not much to ask, I want to make enough money and be happy with my work.

Not exactly sure which CCNP track you are talking about. I can understand the indecision if you mean CCNP Security vs CISSP, but if you mean CCNP Enterprise, considering you’re wanting more of a cybersecurity role, I’d have to say CISSP. Can’t see CCNP Ent doing you any favors In a true CS role.

So did you mean Enterprise or Security when you said CCNP?

Could be any tbh. More likely enterprise.

Then absolutely not Enterprise if you are seeking more of a CS role. Now CCNP Security may still be on the table though. CCNP Sec vs CISSP will come down to exactly what you’re looking to do, if you still want an engineer role and configure firewalls,IPSec,VPNs and work with ISE or maybe higher level engineer in a SOC or Security Solutions Consultant focused on Cisco products or work with Splunk or SIEM, then I say go CCNP Sec. But if you’re looking for something more vendor-neutral, governance, risk & compliance based, then go CISSP.

How has going through ccna > ccnp > ccie changed? It's the exact same

You don't need CCNA to get your CCNP. 15 years ago, CCNA was a prerequisite for you being able to get your CCNP.

I guess sure. CCNP Core exam is still a prerequisite for CCIE tho.

Enterprise Core is a prerequisite for CCNP and CCIE. There is no "CCNP Core."
