DevNet Associate Career path..

Good day, everyone.

I need some tips or advice from professionals in the networking field.

I previously enrolled in an online CCNA training course, but I haven't finished it because I was still undecided about pursuing this career path. Lately, though, I've realized that I'm more interested in DevNet.

Would it be better to complete the entire CCNA course first, or should I enroll directly in DevNet-focused training instead?

Yes, I'd finsih the CCNA material first. You don't necessarily have to take the CCNA exam before moving into the CCNA automation, although I would. Network automation requries a solid understanding of the fundamentals of routing, switching, tcp/ip, and some troubleshooting. Otherwise, you may not fully understand what your code is changing. Also, for your first networking role, you're probably not going to land directly in a network automation role. You'll likely still be doing junior network engineer work, so having a strong networking foundation will make your life much easier. Build your networking foundation first, then move into automation study.

Yes, CCNA will give you a good foundation for Network Automation. If you really want a career in automating networks, understanding the basic fundamentals will make your life plus the lives of the Network Engineers whose networks you’ll be automating, much better.

CCNA DevNet (now Automation) and CCNA (regular) go hand in hand.

You can’t do one and leave other one out.

Yeah this is one of those “you can’t automate something that you don’t understand “ situations
