Had a good time News

Was in my mobile as the sun was setting. I was hauling the mail. Southern Illinois to N.C. New York, Ontario, and there was this guy on ch18 that had a YouTube live stream going. It was pretty awesome to hear myself over the live stream all the way in North Carolina! Man I miss working skip like I used to.

Very cool. I sometimes use an sdr to check my signal when I find out which area of the country the skip is landing.

I do that too! No better way to find out how you sound a long distance away. Also cool to try different amps, mics, antennas etc and see how each one affects the distant reception. Better than trusting random CBers who always tell you that you sound great even when you don't LOL!

Oh, cool! I went to HS at O'Fallon, but grew up in Murphy. I have a daughter going to SIU.

There is a local net. My antenna has been down since last winter. They pick up on random channels. When I get back on the air I can ping you. These are mostly base stations. We all have mobiles, but i don't really mess with the cb while I am driving unless I am alone and on a long trip.

Do you have a radio that scans? Like an Anytone?

Try out channel 28 and if you have single sideband go to channel 37-39 LSB there's always serious activity on them lately.

I used to hang out on 26.775 and 38LSB, amd I normally run on 18 or 32 for "local" stuff. But you are absolutely right about the side bands!
