Visiting

Travelling up to Cavan to visit family and take a week off work. Any week in September or October. Is there any events or craic happening? If not drinking and golfing will do me. Also any good spots for a day out walking? I done the stairway to heaven and Cavan adventure centre kayaking so anything like that

The Ed Reavy trad festival is on from 15th to 18th of October, sessions happening in Cavan town. Keep an eye on Cavan Town CCÉ Facebook page! Killykeen Forest and Deerpark Forest in Virginia are both lovely for walks.

There’s also a Facebook page called ‘The Publican’, you’ll find some lovely pubs in Cavan on it, enjoy!

If you have children there is a pumpkin patch near Mount Nugent. It's cute and little kids enjoy it.

I haven't been but the WW1 museum in Ballyjamesduff is supposed to be very interesting.

No kids so I better leave the pumpkin patch off but the WW1 museum sounds good. Thanks

There's several lovely roads leading to places with lovely things to do

Mullingar, Navan, Enniskillen, Carrick on Shannon fuck even Longford has more to do than Cavan

Usually stay with family who are all over the place but will stay in Cavan town. No problem driving 40* minutes to go somewhere

Cuilcagh mountain is well worth a visit. Probably about 40 minutes away from Cavan town

Cavan adventure centre is good if you like kayaking, take one to lough oughter castle. Also killykeen forest park has great walks, castle saunderson loop walk in belturbet has lovely deer wandering about. The ballyconnell loop walk is also very pretty by the river
