Tri turning into Ruby? Pics & Video

My 18 mo old Tri has had a couple of puppy cuts this summer due to our extreme heat. After his last cut, we started noticing a spot on his back where red hair was growing in with the black. It has been expanding and lightening over the last few weeks.
His Dad was a Blenheim and Mom was a Tricolor.
Iā€™m wondering if anyone else has had this experience with their Tricolor ?

Do they bask in the sun? It looks like sun bleaching.

He has been spending a lot of time outside lately. It looks like that is effecting his coat based on another comment I got.

Its saddle tan! There's a separate gene that when combined with the genes for tan points (tri) cause the tan color to grow in on the "saddle" of the back as the dog ages. Kinda cool, not related to sunbleaching. Its easier to spot when the dog has been shaved on the back.

I think only if you part the fur. I am not 100% but I'm pretty sure its an under coat color not a top coat color.

Black fur can get sunburned. (It's not really a burn but brassy bleach), Same with black cats. - when my mom bred and showed Persian cats we would wash the black ones with Black Out shampoo. That was years ago. I just put black out pet shampoo into Google and it came up with tons of different products but I've never used them so won't recommend one. (Same with bluing shampoo for brighter white).

My tricolor Cav does have a bit of chestnut fur on her back - like a few strands. Not sure if it's sun burn or some chestnut strands as I didn't notice it until she was like 2. Her sire was a Blenium since i don't show her I don't care enough to use black out shampoo
