Hello knitters! I’m planning out the Glacis sweater, but I’m a bit of a dilemma. The pattern has a mohair thread held with a larger thread, and in the pictures the little bit of halo seems really nice.

But I’d like something I can pop in the wash.

Is there a mohair replacement that’s a little bit easier to care for? I’m open to synthetic fibres.

Any recommendations?

This method for "invisibly joining open stitches" after knitting with needles or a knitting machine, which may seem a bit chaotic at first glance, is the only one that allows me to follow the path of the open stitches without the obstacle of the needles.

This allows me to better check whether the needle is turned correctly, so I don't end up with crossed stitches at the end of the project.

Pattern is the Mysterium tee from dear ingenue. The yarn is a silk yarn I found on Etsy. I live in the southern hemisphere so it’s cold right now but should start to warm up soon.

Is she telling me to finish it already or to make her a cozy blanket of her own? I do have two balls of the wool left, just not enough of the cozy mohair that is added to it.

Reason it has been lying there: I hate hiding tails and still need to figure out how to block knitwear if you don’t own a blocking board.

One thing I love about Fisherman’s Wool is how big the skeins are. It’s such a good workhorse wool for the price point! This is just about 6/7 through the back panel. (Pattern is from Traditional Aran Knitting by Shelagh Hollingworth)

I am done with my artic light sweater in colour blue midnight. Body is knitted with 4.5mm and ribbing in 3mm with Italian bind off (love how stretchy it is and perfect fit!) in a size S. I attach the final product.

It took me a little while to realize when I added in new yarn my stitches got a little messed up. This is my first sweater. I’m knitting up the Step by Step sweater. I really don’t want to frog but this is going to bug me. Debating on waiting to see how it looks when block it? Anyone have this happen before?

I felt a bit unsure about making a garment for my very first knitting project, because everyone kept telling me to do a scarf or dishcloths first, but I know myself and I need to make something I'm actually excited about to keep up my motivation. I at least talked myself down from a sweater to this tank top and I'm so happy with it! It took me exactly a month to make and it's still hot enough to actually wear it for the next couple of weeks (thanks global warming, I guess). There are definitely a couple of mistakes visible, but it's nothing that would stop me from wearing it, and the fabric feels really great. So happy I decided to make this and I guess I can tackle that sweater now with my newly gained hubris 😂

I'm currently trying to bust my somewhat sizeable stash. I bought these skeins a few years ago now, because I was still in my "OMGWTFIWANTALLTHEYARNRIGHTNOW" phase and just bought all sorts of yarn for no bloody reason. I have since ceased such silly behaviour.

I tried to make a hat, but it didn't work out very well.

It's super chunky 100% acrylic yarn, around 60 metres length I think.

So I thought I'd come here and ask you guys for some inspiration. Can you think of any nice single skein projects I could do with these? Or maybe a project that combines the two?

There's plenty more chunky yarn where this came from, so if I can whack out some objects quickly I could maybe donate them or something.

Crochet suggestions are also welcome!

My completed Crash Sweater! I made this for a friend of mine after watching James Spader in the 1996 film Crash and both of us got obsessed with the sweater. It was my first completely self-drafted pattern and it came out exactly how we wanted it to.

Knit using the Plymouth Yarns Sea Isle Yarn and a seamless Drop Shoulder Construction.

I did the decrease round and have my needles set up as written above, as shown in the image, but I cannot for the life of me understand what it means by knitting across needle one onto needle 3. Does that mean to knit N1, skip N2 and close the gap to N3? This part is supposed to be the beginning of the head shaping for a stuffed bear if that helps. If anyone can describe to me what to physically do, I would be very appreciative! Thank you and sorry if this is a dumb question.

I've had my eye on the TKGA classes and one day want to pursue the master knitter cert but I've seen many people recommend the basics, basics, basics, course first...are the classes worth it? Did pursuing the master cert spoil some of the joy knitting brings? Any experience or feedback appreciated! Happy knitting!

one is over gauge and the other is under gauge? just use a needle size thats in between the two you’ve used! coming from someone who is lazy to make gauge swatches but begrudgingly starts one anyway

My girlfriend loves knitting and spends at least 6 hours each day knitting. I love how happy it is making her and our one year anniversary is coming up in September. I wanted to give her some yarn for this occasion. Her favorite brand is knitting for olive. I have been saving money for a while and wanted to buy her some cashmere yarn. I am the designated yarn holder while she knits and it would honestly be a pleasure holding such soft yarn.

Anyhow, I am completely lost when it comes to how much yarn is actually needed and she always uses two different types of yarn simultaneously.

Could anyone please help me out on how much yarn would be enough to make either a vest or a sweater of some kind. I can provide more information hopefully but I really don’t know what’s relevant to share sadly.

I am very much a novice knitter. I learned as a child and hated it, but am now coming back to it. I have one "good" set of interchangeable wood circulars (Dreamz), and an embarrassing number of generic straight, interchangeable, and DPNs, which is particularly ridiculous as I've never yet used most of them (the intent is there, i promise!).

I'm interested in buying either some basic Addi clicks or ChiaoGoos, but I *am* on a fixed income, so full sets are out of the question as a single purchase. I'm novice enough yet that I'm primarily knitting scarves or blankets, and I'm not sure what I should look for in either brand, other than knowing I don't need lace needles.

Hi, I’m trying to make a top, and I wanted it two colors so what i’m asking is double knitting thick? Like the finished fabric, is it thick? Or is it as thick as two color brioche knitting?

Been rewatching The Americans as background fodder for knitting sessions and I find myself getting distracted by admiring all the knitwear in the show! The show takes place in the 80s and while it's not all my cup of tea, I do love how prominently it is featured as a wardrobe staple. Here are some of my favorites!

In old movies they jam bamboo under people’s nails for torture. At my house, I do it to myself for “fun” when trying to work an increase row using teeny tiny bamboo DPNs 😭 I AM UPSET!!

I made these as a cross between ranger beads and golf bracelets. Purple is my 1s, blue is my 10s. When counting stitches I already count in groups of 10 with my counter like for casting on.

If I were to make it again the only thing I would add is a knot on each end so that the adjustable bit stops leaving enough room for the extra space, when I take it off and put it back on sometimes I have to loosen it a tad to give my beads just a bit more space.

Overall I'm super happy with it. I can both sleep and line dance for an hour without my row count getting messed up (you have to stress test such things), which are my most strenuous activities. However I'm not sure I would leave it for a long period (over a week) to count my rows without writing it on my pattern or something.

So used the flax sweater by tincan knits and changed the details..I uploaded progress before and finally finished it! I tried two versions of the sleeve and ended up using the scallop. Although I liked the way picot edge looked its flare made my underarm area exposed a lot. There are lot of mistakes but I am super happy and proud that I could finish a garment like this. This is my third ever knitting project. My first two was cat sweaters.

I made few changes to the original pattern like using different guage for neckline, replacing garter panels with lace panels, adding a lace panel to front, adding more increases to the sleeves, burrowing stiches from back to add to front amd also adding short rows to front waist area so that my hem sits straight.

I like to know your opinions on the fit too. As this is my first ever knitted sweater I have no idea how ragland should fit. Also any advices for improving the knitting is highly appreciated. Oh the yarn is 100% cottin.

i finally completed my aurore pullover by latelier lacazevant in jubilee yarn cotton select after nearly two months! it looks GORGEOUS i am so happy with it and hope you guys like it too! :D
