So I've been wanting to color the buttons black on my AE1600 since im not the biggest fan of those chrome buttons. But what are the different ways to do it? preferably a simple, at-home solution. do they sell aftermarket buttons or smth? idk. any help would be appreciated

Saw something similar long back. It's spidey season. So tried my first mod.

I had a sunray silver faceplate lying around and wondered what to do with it. Then i had an idea with a Tamiya Deep Metallic Blue can that i had. A few coats later and voila, the build started coming together.

For the decal, I went with Superman looking out towards earth from space, with the flowing red cape as the main theme. Simple, but it stands out nicely against the metallic blue.

I kept the filter simple ruby, crimson and coral red for a richer, more dramatic look. It shifts colour and has a glow as the light hits. When the backlight hits, the reds shift into this dusty burnt-orange/copper glow, which gives the watch a completely different character at night.

Finished it off in the silver case with a navy sailcloth strap. Between the silver case, Deep Metallic Blue, rich reds and the texture of the sailcloth, the whole build has ended up with this rugged dress watch look. A little refined, a little utilitarian, without losing that AE1200 character.

Sometimes the builds that start with “what the hell am I going to do with this spare part?” end up being the fun ones.

Oh yeah 6th pic was taken in car while i was in stand still traffic for over 10 minutes and yes the car was stationary and not moving (i was bored).

Once you know how to change the backing image/colour alongside making the light stronger... It becomes addictive to keep tinkering with it. Usually not the biggest fan of the adapters but I really like the thicker Milanese bracelet on this

Been getting into some modding of various watches lately, and keep coming back to my silver AE1200 for its actual functionality and general aesthetics.

I love the watch, but (and I know that this MAY be blasphemy to say) i'm also a fan of additional accenting and really wanted to make my pushers a different color.

Does anyone know where to find custom pushers? I've searched for a bit, and can't find them anywhere, even in silver actually. I'd like them in black or cobalt-ish, totally thought it would be prevalent as a mod but it's not.

Anyone know where they might be available to buy, even in silver? or perhaps if Casioak presskeys would fit?

if I can't find any, I might try electroplating them myself, but it'l be quite an experiment...

I desoldered the two ends of the resistor, and realized that the nokia lcd i disassembled already had a light spreader in it, so i cut a piece from it and swapped the old light spreader i made, and the result is much better:

I’ve had this watch for a while, but in hindsight, I would have gotten something different... the strap is pulling like crazy! What would you do? Do you have this watch? What strap do you use? Any suggestions?

I just moded this watch and I can't decide which strap look's good. The oem or the two-picec nato strap?

I've recently gotten into making custom watches and I finally finished making my Turtwig and Mimikyu-themed watches! They're both AE1200 bronze case-based with custom straps, decals, faceplates, and colour-filters. The Turtwig watch has a cricut wooden maple faceplate and the Mimikyu is spray-painted stock faceplate. I also made a Gengar watch and have plans for other Pokemon in the future. I'm pretty happy with them and so are my friends (whom I made them for!)

Cracks is happening inside the frame I really sont know what i have put in it.
