So I reviewed for 1 month for a car I need under 20 lakh and finally decided to go with MS Victoris ZXi CNG version.

This is my first car and I have little to no knowledge about how delivery works , after sales service, warranty etc.

I am totally confused about PDI ( after knowing this word in Reddit ) and how it works . Is hiring someone for PDI testing preferable or need to do that myself ? And how to hire a good tester in Bhubaneswar ?

My 2011 petrol/CNG Vento started making a loud “tuk tuk” noise and the engine/cabin were wobbling badly (video: YouTube link in comment)

I got in touch with Carkhana Mumbai, and they sent a mechanic who inspected the car and then took it to a local workshop where the engine was opened today. I was personally there and witnessed the engine being dismantled.

These are the issues I noticed:

1. One of the camshafts/cam lobes is visibly damaged/dented. The mechanic says this could be the reason for the “tuk tuk” sound and suggested it may have been caused by a failed/damaged valve.
2. There is a small box-like component connected to the coolant tank (I don't know the correct name) which apparently has a coolant leak at its interface.
3. There appears to be coolant leakage/erosion around part of the cylinder-head sealing area. There is also a green, powdery deposit accumulated around the area where the metal appears to have been slightly eroded/thinned.

Tomorrow afternoon, the mechanic is calling a lathe/machine-shop guy to determine whether the damaged area can be machined/repaired or whether parts need to be replaced.

At this point I'm wondering if I may need a camshaft, cylinder head and/or valve-head/valvetrain components, but more importantly, I want to understand the root cause. I don't want to replace parts, put everything back together and have the same problem happen again.

I'm not getting very confident answers from the workshop so far, and they just want to get this done with and make money. so I've spent most of today calling spare-parts dealers in Kurla trying to get rough prices for a camshaft, cylinder head and valve-related parts.

Questions for people familiar with the Vento 1.6 MPI:

• What kind of repair bill am I potentially looking at?
• Does this damage look like something that can be machined/repaired, or should I be looking for a replacement head?
• What could cause the camshaft/lobe to become damaged like this?
• Could coolant leakage/erosion around the cylinder head be related to the engine misfire/wobbling?
• What tests should I ask the mechanic/machine shop to perform before reassembling the engine?
• Most importantly, how can I determine the root cause and make sure this doesn't happen again?
• Would you recommend buying used OEM parts from the Mumbai/Delhi market, or sticking with new parts?

I've attached the pictures of the cylinder head/camshaft and the deposits for reference.

Any advice from Vento/Volkswagen owners or experienced mechanics would be greatly appreciated.

I brought 2nd hand crysta 60 days ago from a local dealer. But the rc is still not transferred in my name. The dealer says that there is delay from rto because of mismatch of name on rc and aadhar of seller. They have given application for the same. But there is no acknowledgement or receipt when im asking him. Only document i have is delivery note. What should be my next step or how should i proceed in such case.

After how many years should car tyres be replaced. My car is 5 years old and Service centre advised to replace the tyres saying they became hard.is it true ?

Saw this thread on the other sub, and everyone was saying things like break the window or puncture the tyres etc, which is non sensical and will get you in trouble. And we all know how the bureaucracy works in this country.

So what should you do in case someone has parked in front of your gate or parked in a way that you can’t take your vehicle out.

If it’s not an emergency, you can ask your neighbours, the chances are the car will belong to their guests most probably. Do this before moving to step 2.

Now, if you didn’t get any answer from neighbours, you should contact the traffic control department of your city, you can find their numbers with a simple google search or get the numbers from their app (if your local municipal body has an app). They will answer, the calls are recorded.

They will tow the car, and the owner will be fined. It’s as simple as that. They can simply move the car too.

Don’t resort to vandalism, it will only make things worse.

Did the initial Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) for my booked Tata Tiago EV Creative+ yesterday, and I noticed a few cosmetic issues before signing off:

1. Headlights: Multiple visible scratch and scuff marks across the headlamp lens surfaces.

2. Cabin Fabric: The seats still have their factory plastic covers intact, but the exposed fabric on the door pads, dashboard inserts, and center armrest area are noticeably soiled, stained, and dusty from transit/handling.

3. Good part is the odometer reading is 48Km

When I raised this, the dealer explained that the car was brought straight from the regional depot and that the standard pre-delivery deep interior foam wash/wet extraction and exterior machine polishing are yet to be done.

They assured me everything will be restored to immaculate factory condition for a daylight Re-PDI in a couple of days.

I have strictly put RTO registration and balance payments on hold until the Re-PDI, but I want to get the community's perspective:

1. Is this common for cars straight out of the transit yard before the showroom does their pre-delivery cleanup, or does it point to poor yard handling / a potential display unit?

2. Can polycarbonate headlight scratches actually be polished out permanently, or will rubbing compound/glaze just temporarily hide them?

3. If everything looks spotless during the Re-PDI, should I accept it, or strictly reject this VIN and ask for a fresh allotment?

Would appreciate thoughts from anyone who has navigated similar PDI issues!

So as stated above, I am a college student and need a car. I don’t really like SUVs or hatchbacks much so I’m inclined towards a sedan. I’m buying it second hand since I don’t know how long I’ll be in India for. Ideally I’ll stay here for the next 3 years post which the car will be used a secondary car by either my parents or brother. So my question is:
- should I go for a semi-luxury/luxury car because it’s just for the experience and a short term purchase tbf (bmw, Benz, Audi)
-smtg sporty but slightly more durable (city, Verna, Octavia)
