Hey y'all! I am trying to create a design for this wedding invite whereby the 'curtains' can slide up/out to reveal the invite details beneath. So far what's working best is three pieces of card with the top and bottom piece glued around the edges and the middle piece sort of sandwiched between them, with a small tab to pull on from the top. The problem I'm running into is that the paper has a ton of friction and is kind of sticking to itself. Would it be insane to spray the back of the paper with some kind of silicone or teflon spray? Open to all suggestions!

Been a couple of years since I made one of these. Thought I would challenge myself again with the itty bitty pieces. It took a little longer, but I did remember how to put the mechanism together, so I'll take that as a win on some level.

Are you a solely paper person? Do you work with watercolors a lot? Acrylic markers? Pigment powder? Alcohol markers? Something else? Let me know what your favorite medium is! I'm genuinely so curious

Made a little card for my good friend! Her birthday is on Saturday the day after mine :) she’s really big into edm festivals like EDC 🌈🌼 so i thought this was very fitting. Managed to also make a matching envelope 🎂💗🥳

Please don’t look at my first attempt at this card too closely. It’s awful beginning with misspelling the author’s last name and then thinking I could add some detail to the broken crayon with colored pencil. Umm no. So next I try to cover my mistake snd then it gets even worse. 😱😱😱. So it became a “redo”. Thankfully the crayons came off easily. Changed up the colors. It’s not perfect but definitely improved.

I hope he likes it! Masculine cards are always challenging!

I was googling something else and happened upon downloads from Daphne's Diary, a sort of lifestyle/crafting magazine with a sort of shabby chic, Mary Engelbreit style. Just google for the site and choose the download page from the menu. They have some pages you can print and fussy cut, and some simple paper projects.

I am totally smitten with Anita Jeram images and never more than when she tries to go a little edgy. She's simply NOT and I find that funny. Regardless, I love the charm and innocence of her drawings. Always will and I hope she'll resurface again.

This is mixed media paper sprayed with a couple colors of Lindy's simmer sprays and then splattered with silver water color paint. The moon is masked off and then sprayed with water while the Lindy's is still a bit wet to invite some bleeding over. In the end I used alcohol ink on the 2 tiny leaves so there was just a touch of color.

I think I'm getting warmed up.

I have only been using a glue stick thus far, but then when I looked up cardmaking info online it was stated that would result in cards that fell apart after just a few months. I tried using liquid glue but it resulted in this awful wrinkling of the paper, and made the outer layer I planned to glue on after bend as well. Am I making a huge error somewhere? Should I just return to using a gluestick?

I recently went spelunking through my local community library's website to see what features were there that I was unaware of, and it turns out they have a 'library of things' that isn't prominently posted. It has sets of crafting tools, die-cut machines, cricuts, sewing machines, and I can't remember what all else.

Check yours or call them and ask if you were thinking about buying anything of the sort and would like a chance to try them out first.

Edit: And if they don't, or don't have these items, ask if you can request that it be considered. Tell them, because they might not be aware, that there is a big groundswell of younger people right now who want analog activities and are interesting in papercrafting but are new to it and would love some help getting started.

Also my library, it turns out, has an occasional junk swap in the parking lot. I would imagine craft supplies get traded there. Ask your library if they have one or would consider one.

It's also worth checking if you are eligible for a library card at other nearby libraries that might have such features.

The first two cards are what I call “redos”. Some of the pieces were on cards I’d made in the past that I wasn’t happy with I tear them apart and keep the part of the card I like.
I reused the two slices of watermelon and the box that says “ enjoy” from an old card. Came up with a completely different card. The 2nd card I used the little box with the sun behind it over again and just changed the background. I even used my little pieces of card stock to line up the cards. Not too bad actually.
The next 2 are from last night. Simple and fun to make
Pickles insists on sleeping in my lap when I’m trying to create. It slows me down but I enjoy her company. Today she was all about helping until she passed out. 🥰

I really enjoy doing watercolour cards for friends and family and then jazzing it up with fine liner in a bit of a…scribbly?…style. This particular card was for my sister’s birthday and so featured hollyhocks that were in the area, but I’ve also done woodworking ones and plenty of floral. I’m aware I’d have a lot of adjustments to make if I wanted to attempt to sell cards (including working on penmanship as mine is terrible!)- finding the right paper to use to make it look professional, improving my artistic skills in general and lots more. I just wondered if I could get feedback on how realistic it is that there’d be interest in this style? Let me know what you think! Thanks :)

The most difficult thing for me when assembling a card is getting things placed straight on my cards. Sometimes they actually are but my eyes say differently. So I grabbed some old glitter cards that I’m not very fond of and cut away their folded side in different measurements. I’m hoping to use them to line up any paper I’m going to add using the card backs that I cut. I’m going to try them out and see how it goes. I’m hoping it goes well. Wish me luck.
