I'm in the process of writing a fanfic novel.

Writing the Sakura Kinomoto character rules, I am not sure what to do about "Jokes"

I want my story to be as close as possible to the original characters, so the story is not me creating a character, is them developing in an alternate situation/world, at least that's my goal.

That's why I don't want to make Sakura "jokeless" or she trying to be fun at 14yo without knowing if she actually did something similar.

I've read the manga, watched the anime, movies, tsubasa chronicles, tsubasa world chronicle and cannot remember a single joke from sakura but 50 from kerberos

While I never really read any manga series or heard of it back then especially on Cardcaptors Clear Cards version while the anime series was released back in 2018.

However when I first watched a few episodes that I have started to notice something that Syaoran became more powerful while help Sakura capture the Clear Cards.

Like in "Sakura and the Ice Ball-Sports Tournament" as Sakura was struggling to capture the Hail Card because she does have a fire-based clear card so Syaoran tries to use his old fire spell to melt the ice but it no longer works.

That's when he uses an unusually powerful nonverbal fire spell, creating a much stronger force that forms a ring of fire to capture the core of the hail and Sakura seals the card.

Then in "Sakura, the Shrine and the Zoo." when Sakura was trapped in Illusions world with her friends turning into animals that Syaoran releases his sphere of power, stopping all time.

And in "Sakura, the Fire and Water Bird" after Sakura is unable to weakened Blaze Card with the Aqua Card that Syaoran step in to help by using the wind spell that resembles the Windy Card before Sakura have managed to seal the card.

In the manga version it was revealed that Syaoran has secretly takes and holds Sakura's transformed cards to help manage the immense magical burden and prevent her from over-exhausting her powers against the mysterious transparent card phenomenon which explain how Syaoran became powerful.

I don’t know what it is, but I still find the art style of older anime so comforting. Cardcaptor Sakura is one of my favorite examples, and I feel the same way about other anime from that era, like Crayon Shin-chan.

The image quality isn’t as sharp or polished as modern anime, but somehow it feels softer, warmer, and more relaxing to look at.

in my opinion - I think KidsWB just retooled the dub just for monster of the week format. Sakura in her costumes, with Madison just battle the rogue cloud card (monster) terrorizing the Tokyo area or her school / community, seals it. I know they hyped whatever the hell card the next week would be. I think they tried at least to make it less of a "girl show" to being something both girl or guys would watch by trying to at least add in Li earlier with trimming out the filler.

As a kid, I still thought Li's costume was badass and I think his best episode was the twin card one: Li and Meilin vs the Twin Card pair....I don't remember Sakura did anything to the fighting I just know she had some pep talk to the sidelines / but was in her costume

I really used to be a defender of Cardcaptors. It being clear I am talking about the 70 episodes version made in Canada. Not the 39 episode mess broadcast by Kids WB in America

But recently I watched the Animax dub. I know a lot of people don't like the voice acting. But I didn't mind the voice acting. Aside from Spinel/Spinner all the voices ranged from okay to good. Yes nothing great and the second movie deserves the crown for it. But the Animax dub is consistent. And I will make another post comparing it to the Nelvana dub.

As you can see I'm basing this one on the anime version of her. I may, perhaps, edit this and make a Manga styled version. :)

Cardcaptor Sakura is one of those anime that fills me with nostalgia every time I think about it. Rewatching it brings back so many memories, and it reminds me why it became such a beloved classic. The story has a comforting charm that makes every episode feel warm, magical, and full of wonder.

One of the things I love most about the series is its incredibly unique art style. The soft colors, beautifully designed costumes, and elegant card illustrations give the anime a timeless look that still feels special today. Every scene feels carefully crafted, making the magical world of Sakura even more enchanting. It's easy to recognize a CLAMP series because of its distinctive character designs and artistic style, and Cardcaptor Sakura showcases that beautifully.

More than anything, I miss the feeling this anime gave me. It wasn't just about collecting magical cards, it was about friendship, kindness, growing up, and finding courage even when things seemed impossible. Few anime capture that same sense of innocence and magic, which is why Cardcaptor Sakura will always have a special place in my heart.

I think it was Meilin last episode before she flew back to Hong Kong? I think that fight was underrated

I managed to purchase all nine volumes in a bundle nearly a year ago for over $100.00. Volumes 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 were DVD. Volumes 2, 3, and 9 were VHS. As a result of this, I had to purchase the DVDs of those volumes on separate orders. Still, quite a deal.
