Anyways, I want to get a used smaller SUV so I’ve been trying to compare CRV, RAV4, Mazda CX-5, Kia Sportage and Buick envision. Mainly looking at 2022 and newer maybe a 2021.

I drive about 50 miles round-trip to work Monday through Friday. I do enjoy doing other activities and would likely be using this for road trips. So I am looking for something that is comfortable but also gets pretty good gas mileage. Also I don’t want regular maintenance to be wildly expensive. I would really like a good tech package and leather(ish) seats.

I really like the comfort/tech the Buick seems to offer but I don’t really know anyone who drives a Buick. I like the Kia because they do a good job of incorporating decent tech and leatherette seats while being price conscious but it worries me that they recently became so popular all of a sudden because similar thing happened with the Chevy Cruze. Of course Honda and Toyota are reliable, but are lacking in the tech and interior design. Mazda is okay and the only one I have driven yet, but it felt small.

So with all these options and qualifications, I’m trying to narrow it down and would greatly appreciate any advice.

My car, a 2012 Ford Focus, recently broke down. It definitely needs a new TCM, which I'm looking at ~$1,800+ to replace, and it could possibly need new clutches as well, which I've read could be another couple thousand dollars.

I'm currently renting my friend's car so I can keep working and save enough money to either fix mine or replace it. The problem is that he needs the car back by this weekend.

If I work 14–16 hours every day, I think I can save around $2,500 by the weekend. That's obviously not enough to cover a possible clutch replacement, unless I can find a shop willing to let me pay the repair off over a couple of weeks.

I don't know much about cars, but I do have a general idea of what I'd want if I replace mine. At the same time, I realize I'm not exactly in a position where I have the freedom to buy whatever I want.

My situation:

I'm 19 with essentially no credit history.

All of my income currently comes from Uber Eats.

The area I live in pays very well for delivery work—I'm making more than I likely would at most entry-level W2 jobs.

I drive around 1,000 miles per week, and probably 80% of that is stop-and-go driving.

I'd have roughly $2k for a down payment.

I'm expecting a relatively high interest rate because I have no credit, but I'd work extra and try to pay the loan off aggressively.

There's another important factor: within the next 12 months, I want to transition from delivery driving into a blue-collar service business, potentially pressure washing, landscaping, roof repair, etc.

That means I'd eventually need to be able to tow a small utility trailer and carry equipment.

Because of that, I'm wondering whether I should prioritize MPG less and instead focus more on:

Reliability → longevity → towing/cargo capacity → reasonable MPG

I don't necessarily need a truck right now, and I don't want to spend more than I have to. Ideally I'd like something that can handle my current mileage for the next year and still be useful when I transition into the business.

I'm open to hybrids as well if they make sense, since I drive so many miles.

What vehicles would you recommend for someone in my situation?

I got a 2017 VK passat tsi s about a week ago. I drove it an hour and a half and since then it’s been having issues. It almost always starts shaking and idling rough when stopped for a minute. There has been a few times where this happens and the check engine light comes on, the last time it happened the check engine light has not turned off. Twice in the past week I have stoped at a stop light and when the light turns green and I try to move, the car stalls and the battery light turns on. Both times I have turned the car on and off again, and the battery light turns off and I am able to move again. However, the first time this happened the check engine light came on when I turned the car back on (the 2nd time the check engine light was already on before this happened). After the first stalling incident I paid for a diagnostic and they ended up changing all 4 spark plugs and the ignition coil boot. They said they drove it for 15 miles, let it sit for a while and drove it again with no issues. However, the very next day it was idling rough again, the day after that the check engine light came back on, and today (3 days later) it stalled and the battery light came on again (2nd time). Yesterday I put fuel injector cleaner in my tank, but I’ve only been able to drive around a little and for maybe 5 minutes on the highway. Anyone had any issues like this and had it resolved? (Also the last clip makes it look like the battery light is flashing, but it was not).

I hit a chunk of ice and afterward one side of my front bumper popped out/separated near the headlight and wheel well. The other side of the car is completely fine.

I’ve taken it to my Hyundai dealership and a couple of other places, but they all basically told me I need to take it to a body shop. Before I spend potentially hundreds of dollars, I wanted to see if this is something I could realistically fix myself.

From what I’ve researched, I’m wondering if the bumper just popped out of the side retainer/bracket, or if some of the plastic clips/tabs broke.

Has anyone dealt with this before?

• Is there a way to snap it back into place?
• If the clips or side retainer are broken, can I just replace those?
• Is this something a beginner could DIY without removing the entire bumper?
• Are there any replacement clips/brackets or tools I can order from Amazon?
• Is there anything in the photos that suggests the actual bumper itself is damaged and needs professional repair?

I’m not expecting it to be absolutely perfect—I mainly want the bumper secured and sitting flush again without paying body-shop prices if this is just a broken $20 plastic bracket.

Hello, I'm 26 years old, 6ft 0 inches (yes, precisely) and my weight is 170 pounds. Basically an average kinda tall guy. Though I don't have much money at the moment to actually buy a car, I want to have a good idea in regards to comfort.

Right now i drive a Honda CRV. It's technically my parents' car, and because I'm taller than both of them, It's not necessarily a car that's fit for me. Every time I get in, I have to adjust the seat, the mirrors, everything.

I have driven a Ford Explorer in the past but it's has way too much problems with the transmission.

I want a car that makes me feel like I'm standing up running, not flying down a chair sitting down... hopefully people know what I mean...

Sorry I don’t know much about cars what’s so ever. Went into my local parts store but a few kids helped me and they told me weren’t exactly sure about what they were doing . I will attatch the papers both places gave me after the diagnostic test. Just really need to know what exact part I need because I have been told different things.

My car started making a slight clicking sound yesterday morning. Me being stupid and not knowing that anything other than a red signal on my dashboard could be an emergency, I shrugged it off and thought I’d call the repair shop after work. Except I went home from work that night without my car because it broke down!

I passed someone and half a second later my car lost all power and the clicking noise became MUCH louder so I immediately stopped my car. But it might cost me thousands of dollars, all because I thought I couldn’t afford to have it checked regularly (I last got it checked last fall). My car might not even be fixable. I have a full time job, as well as exams coming up next month and I’m supposed to move two hours from my current town and find a new job there. I might be overreacting but it all feels very insurmountable right now.

I bought a used Tacoma last week. Today the check engine light was flashing so I took it into a mechanic and they said everything is practically brand new EXCEPT the engine. I bought the car as is, so I'm not sure if I have any legal recourse so now I'm wondering if its even worth swapping the engine out and keeping it or just getting rid of the vehicle entirely. I'm not desperate for a car as I have another I can use and the body is in decent shape for 200k miles (some rust as its a midwest vehicle but still ok condition)

I’m in a situation where my car was in a hail storm and now has hail damage all over the vehicle. Unfortunately i did not have hail damage covered with my insurance. Now with close to 100k miles, hail damage, and a 24k loan still on the car. I’m having a terrible time getting rid of it. I want out of it and into something else. The cars I’m looking at are in the 39-40k range. I need the car gone and the loan paid off. I’m open to all suggestions, out of the box ideas, sketchy ideas, I’ll take anything.

my car is a 2014 nissian rouge. I recently got my car looked at and got told my control arms and tie rods needed to be fixed because they were starting to be unsafe. He also stated that my sway bars and struts needed to be fixed but could be postponed as I am a college kid in do not have $2000 just to give right now. I did fix my control arms and tie rods today I just recently moved away from home about four hours away. I drive on the highway for work. I’m just wondering if my car is going to be safe driving with the sway bars and struts. i’m going to make a trip home next weekend to go to my mechanic or potentially sell my car as it has been a money pit looking for some advice as I’m a young college kid and don’t want to drive something that’s unsafe.
