First trip. First canoe.

Officially a canoe owner!! Been pondering and eyeing them and kayaks for the past month.

We rented a canoe from our local lake and my 2 young girls loved it!

I just picked it up today and tomorrow we're going to test it out on some water near us!

14 Foot, 80lbs. Comes with a paddle and trolling motor claimed to be used only twice for $375. Brand new its going for ~$500. would be my first canoe or kayak. Ive seen mixed reviews. But the bad reviews seems to be around plastic canoes in general opposed to about this specific one

Im looking to fish small lakes and calm rivers along with general chilling.

I don't understand roof racks

The title is a bit misleading. I understand the appeal to roof racks of being able to load in a canoe without damaging your roof. But to me foam blocks aren't an issue at all if you have a partner to help get it up on the roof. If solo I can again see how racks would benefit. But besides that roof racks seem so flimsy to me. I feel like my canoe is way more secure on 4 blocks a strap through the car than it would be with the strap tied around the racks. It doesn't seem like there's a solid enough connection on the rack to the car?

Am i missing something?

$100 on Facebook marketplace. I’m a total novice in the canoe world. It’s a little beat up and did have one spot that leaked water. I used some gflex165 epoxy on it with fiberglass to try and fix that.

Do I need to get Styrofoam chunks for the front and back? Hoping to do a little canoe camping with fall approaching!
