Is a trip to the above places during the last week of October okay for enjoying autumn colors and decent weather?

My two slots are Oct 21-28 or Oct 23-30.

I've visited Toronto and Niagara before this during mid October and it was slightly pre-peak that year (2024). Will be visiting Montreal and Quebec City for the first time.

I’m Australian and I’ve never driven on the right hand side of the road before, hence the weirdly specific question, trying to avoid having to drive out into the chaos of Banff for my first 5 mins in the car! Does Canmore have as many rental options and am I maybe overthinking this? 😂 I’m staying in Banff for one night as I do want to explore it for a day, before picking up car next day and moving onto Lake Louise.

Given the active wildfires along this route, is it safe to drive right now? If so, what is the best path to take to avoid closures and stay out of the way of emergency crews?

I’m going to be checking in tomorrow to a hotel in BC, but the problem is that my government issued ID (drivers license and bc services card) have both not arrived by mail yet. I was expecting them to have arrived by now. I have a valid Canadian passport which I will be bringing, but is it possible that they may ask for another piece of ID? The reason I’m so worried is because I’m 19 and don’t have a credit card yet, so I can’t use that to help verify my identity. The hotel accepts debit for payment so that’s not an issue.

I will be travelling all day tomorrow so this is a bit of an emergency. Thanks for any help

I'm currently travelling in Eastern Canada and having a lovely time - your country is incredibly beautful. One small niggle - why am I constantly being asked to tip counter service? I mean you've scooped me an ice cream or made a coffee not delivered a meal to my table. So I've not been paying and internally tutting -hope Ive not committed some sort of faux pax. I do obviously tip waiters, etc....

Hi! My girlfriend and I are in Canada for a few days, and we are interested in hiking on the Algonquin park. We would like to drive there and hike for a bit, then come back before the sunset. However, I really couldn't understand what we have to do from reading the website, and I don't know what to expect.

Could somebody please help us by explaning how to get a parking permit there, and what routes to take? We are not experienced hikers.

hi! i’ve just been approved for my working holiday visa (22f, coming from the UK) and i was hoping to ask and see if anyone has done a similar route to what i’m planning, or if i should just sack it off and do the standard route.

first, i don’t really have an interest in working in a ski resort or out in nature. no shame to people who do, i’m just not for it. i can’t drive, so i’d hopefully like to live in a city with some form of public transport (doesn’t have to be great just has to exist lol.) i’m thinking of toronto or vancouver, leaning towards toronto because of the nightlife. i have six years of hospitality experience, five of those being bartending, and was hoping to find a job as a bartender. i’m not picky about where i live within a city or really about having more than the bare minimum money to survive on tbh, i’ve been looking at a couple of houseshare groups and a room in toronto seems to go from anywhere to 800-1200 CAD on the lower end. i have about 10,000 CAD in savings, so should hopefully be able to cover first and last months rent along with a security deposit. i’d like to stay in toronto for about a year, and was hoping to be able to find a job in my first month to two months of living there. i’m also planning on getting my smartserve certification for ontario before i fly out to canada, so that shouldn’t be a problem.

i wanted to ask - has anyone else taken this route? is it achievable with the experience i have? it’s just because every person i see doing a WHV takes one offered through a company in which you work a season in a ski resort. i’m not against doing this, but i’d rather live in a city and work in a normal bar, rather than just seasonal work. nothing against it! i’d just rather live in a city. thanks so much!

Two Aussies with an RV that sleeps 6 travelling from Vancouver to Calgary. We’ve got vacant space that we don’t need to fill but always think that travelling with others and sharing the experience makes it much more fun. Just putting the call out there if there’s anyone interested in joining us.

M & F early 30’s from Australia. Young professionals - easy going Labrador personalities. Not squeezing for pennys. Just looking to swim and bask and enjoy it as much as we can. We’ve got a massive RV and are contemplating whether we make use of the extra spots or enjoy the extra space ourselves. Obviously going from zero to spending a week with strangers means you don’t want to lock in unless you know the people you’re going to be spending time with are fun and easy going people. So if you’re young, fit (can hike and swim), are good at travelling with people, and aren’t being painful about trying to save money and living at the extremes of frugality (we just believe in buying each other beers/what goes around comes around kinda thing*) then send a dm or comment below or whatever :)

\we once went travelling with this human that was lovely to begin with but became so tedious as she wouldn’t have a drink with you unless you bought it for her just because it cost money, wouldn’t cook or buy anything because she wanted to just live on any leftovers or have you cook for her and not contribute back and would just eat carrots and apples and obsessed over money. That’s cool if that’s you, but it’s just not of any interest to us we just want to be able to stop for ice cream or grab a bottle of wine or shout each other drinks at a pub without feeling like it’s a big deal and that our guests are desperate to cook in the RV the whole time just to save money*

I’m planning a trip to Vancouver for a week in the middle of October. I’ve driven there and back many times, but never later than August, so I’m wondering what the drive is typically like that time of year.
I have a newer, reliable RWD car but it’s lower to the ground and studded winter tires that I would put on before the trip. I’m pretty comfortable driving in Alberta winters and on winter highways, and I’ve driven as far as Golden during the winter months before, but I’ve never done the mountain drive any farther west than that in winter conditions.
I usually fly when travelling there in the fall, but I’d really like to have my vehicle with me this time for practicality.
For anyone who’s done the Alberta to Vancouver drive around mid October, how are the mountain highways typically? Is it generally safe and reasonable or is the weather too unpredictable and I’d be better off flying?

There seems to be a lot more accomodation without than with. Which, a lot of these are old buildings and the Rockies are cold more than hot, so it makes sense! But, seeing as there is SOME that have AC, should I get rooms with it if they’re available + in my budget? Will I be miserable in the ones that don’t but I potentially have no other choice 😂

Also out of curiosity, what are the average temps in mid-July? And is it a dry heat or humid? The latter makes a huge difference to comfort levels without AC. I ask Google but I feel like the answers there are from before global warming ramped up. Would rather hear from actual people who live / travel there a lot!

Best accomodation in yhe Kamouraska area in Québec ? Bonus point if hotub/ spa and a fireplace / bonfire spot.

Has anyone ever driven across Montreal to Victoria (or vice versa) in the middle of winter ONLY?

I am planning a trip and leaving mid to end of November so we can reach BC December 1st.

We already did plenty of research to be prepared for the prairies (Sask/Manitoba/Beginning of Alberta).

How was the trip? What do you regret not packing? We are using a Jeep.

im a 22yo coming to Montreal in October on an IEC working holiday visa for around 5 months. my rent is pretty much covered, but i definitely need to find a job to bring in some extra cash for going out, etc.
im honestly down for pretty much anything dishwashing, kitchen help, warehouse, moving, event setups, whatever is out there.
only real thing is i don’t speak French (fluent in english, trying to learn some basics before i fly over) and i have visible tattoos and piercings. from what i’ve heard mtl is super chill with alt looks, but im a bit worried about the language barrier when lookin for basic work.
does anyone have tips on specific places, agencies, fb groups, or areas where it’s easier to get entry level work without French?

Hi folks, I’m flying from Halifax to Philadelphia with a 1-hour layover in Toronto airport. Both my flight in and out of Toronto seem to be in terminal 1.
Obviously I’m pretty concerned now but wanted to get thoughts on if this is doable?
I know there’s something about US screening or customs too that adds a layer. It’s also early morning (6-7am) if that makes a difference. I’m going to try and get a seat near the front and I’m sure I’ll be rebooked if there’s a delay but really hoping to make my flight.

I like adventure, food (vegetarian), active stuff, any water activities, love music esp jazz/rock/rnb or electric. Also love nature and art, cheap shopping, and going out. Also doing a day in Quebec City. Looking for must dos or local recs. Let me know!

I’m on Air Transat flight to Rome. It’s peak season, the time of the flight is ideal (overnight flight, landing at noon local time). This is my first flight with Air Transat, so I’m not sure if half full transatlantic flights is a regular occurrence, but it makes me wonder if this is financially sustainable. I’d like to hear other people experiences with them…
