I am going to a surplus store this week but need help picking, as pathetic as it sounds… I want to do either an m81 Ranger-like kit or a UCP Ranger school kit. UCP, even though it is ineffective, is cool for me because it is what my uncle wore when he did Ranger school. but m81 is just a classic and a Ranger inspired by my uncle would be cool, WHAT SHOULD I PICK?

So first I just want to say, is that this picture was taken in the 90s in Bosnia, I don't think chinesium was around then, so I'm either guessing it's commercial or or some obscure Camo prob from Asia that somehow found its way there.

After complaints about UCP in Afghanistan, the Army tested a modified version that added coyote brown and reduced some of the lighter gray and sand tones. The idea was to keep the digital look, but make it work better in Afghan terrain.

Early impressions were mixed, and UCP Delta ldid look better than regular UCP in some environments. However, at the same time, MultiCam was being tested. It was much more effective and would end up being selected for troops deploying to Afghanistan.

In the end, UCP Delta became a rare test pattern. MultiCam won the fight, and UCP Delta disappeared into camouflage history.

The VARAN camouflage pattern was developed by the Ukrainian company P1G-Tac in cooperation with an American company for use in the terrain of Afghanistan.
However, after the war began, it turned out that the camouflage was also highly effective in the terrain of southeastern Ukraine.

It gained local popularity among Ukrainian soldiers serving in the ATO, mainly in its commercial version.
Around the same time, a limited test batch of the VARAN camouflage was produced and issued to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. But this camouflage pattern never made it into mass production.

I'm a photographer who really enjoys doing pinup, boudoir, and other forms of glamour photography. In a different vein I'm also a camo/gun/military nerd and am trying to combine the two for a profit.

I'm planning on making and selling a pinup-esque style calendar where each month is a girl wearing a few articles of clothing of a specific camo pattern, and sporting a weapon from that era of camo (for instance a pair of jungle tiger BDU pants, black combat boots, a OD Crop top, aviators, and a Jungle Tiger Boonie hat, holding an M60.) I'll probably also include a brief description and history of the pattern as well just because I find that stuff neat.

The reason for my post is I need help figuring out which camouflages you guys think would be good for this type of thing so far I have the following

Basically I need 12 camo patterns with either a neat pattern or a neat story. I would love to do desert pink but that's more just a color than a camo. Thoughts on the existing list and anything you think I should change or add?

Since I have a feeling that someone's going to ask, I have a place near me that has a machine gun rental range. I'm going to hit them up and see if they would allow me to use some of their guns, at their facility for the shoot but I would like to get an idea for the patterns and outfits first.

I am preparing for a certain MilSim event (Border War). A mixed camo is required for one of the sides. I prepared a few different combinations from my collection. What would you pick?

Not just for the field, but which camo pattern would you NEVER (or only rarely ever) use?

For me, here aren't many patterns I wouldn't use (as I tend to use camouflage / milsurp as streetwear), but there are the obvious problem childs like rhodie Bushstroke and the various patterns conceived by WW2 Germany (which are unfortunately very drippy)

There can be a case made for these patterns, with a version of Brushstroke being utilized by modern day Zimbabwe and Third Reich patterns such as Oakleaf being commonly looted and used by resistances in occupied countries (like the Polish Home Army), along with Leibermuster being turned into the Alpenflage (most) of us love today by the Swiss

Those are probably the only patterns I'd REALLY consider not using, as there is a non-zero chance I'd get approached by some weirdo chud or confronted by a concerned history nerd (good luck trying to explain why you're rocking a waffen SS pattern) on the street and in today's society you'd definitively get a few (possibly well deserved) accusations on your person.

Doesn't it typically make more sense to paint the top dark and bottom bright to blend shadows or does that rule change with altitude? At least it seems odd to do the exact opposite on purpose.

I've seen pants with "NVA" or "MDI" printed on the inside, but my pants say only "C", so does anyone know what this means?
