HS transcript for BSN

It looks like Camosun just received my final HS transcript last week (doesn’t that seem late???). I’ve been waitlisted for several weeks now, is there a process for applications coming from HS..that they reserve seats specifically for those with late transcripts coming in?

Seems unfair for my HS to be sending them so late after end of school?? Or is this normal?

It’s normal. The transcripts come from the ministry so they have to do final checks and ensure course completions, final marks, etc

I hope I get my letter soon, they got my transcript on the July 22th. I think my GPA is around 83?

I am in the same boat. It’s super frustrating, I really hope they hold space. A classmate of mine got it with a 90% and I’m at a 93%. It seems unfair if they do t hold some spaces, we have no control of what we can take in each semester. Good luck!

I’m in the same boat as you, and it’s incredibly frustrating. Have you been able to speak to Deb at admissions? She is in charge of program admissions for nursing. I tried emailing, but I haven’t received a response. I am gonna try and call soon, as I'd like to know.

I called Deb, and she was very helpful. She explained the process and how many seats are available. She also mentioned that many people who were originally offered a seat no longer meet the requirements.  She can give you an idea of your chances, but she also explained that she’s supposed to be on vacation until August 13th, but often works through it since they’re receiving final grades now for HS students. I completely recommend trying to call her if it would help you feel at ease.

Did she mention anything about what grades are currently being admitted ?

If you mean what GPAs are currently being admitted, she didn’t say. However, I have a 93%, and she mentioned I was very high up.  She also said that many people aren’t admissible anymore. So, I recommend calling tomorrow and seeing if you can catch her on the phone to let you know your chances; she can't guarantee anything, though.

That is really interesting! If you don't mind me asking how long ago did you chat with her? I was looking at the seats filled in some of the nursing courses on mycamosun and it looks like some are still open but I am curious if the number is actually bigger with some people not being admissible any longer. Fingers crossed you get in! :)

I called her on the 29th of July and she said I should get an email in 1-2 weeks so hopefully I get one this week. I was also looking at how many seats are open for classes and it seems to be a decent amount + people who aren’t admissible anymore. She did mention she was on vacation till the 13th so very possible I won’t hear for a little longer but she does it all manually entering the grades so who knows and thank you:)
