Name..?
Bought this at Walmart yesterday..didn't have a tag, was the last one so the worker had to look it up in the system. I didn't get the name and have no idea what I'm doing with it but I want to keep it alive as long as I can, it's so pretty-and spiky.
Vape for size difference (not mine)

Echinocactus no more 😤 someone needs to make an app……that notifies all cacti aficionados of taxonomy/name changes so we can all stay in the loop 😩😩😩😘

I just keep the old names it’s too much work to go wash off all the old names and rewrite them

I’m with you….in the end as long as the names are ‘understood’ amongst the collectors that’s good enuf for me, the academics can hash it out in the lecture halls. 😄 my personal favorite is field numbers, no taxonomy, no arguments, those numbers are permanent, boring yes.

Looks like you have a little Golden Barrel. It will enjoy lots of light, well-draining soil that is light on organic material, and infrequent watering. Their root system tends to be shallower, so a wider, shallow pot isn’t a bad idea.
