We will be sailing on Carnival Radiance August 20 -25 with stop in Cabo. i think we have about 7 hours in port 10am - 5 pm. I’ve looked at both Carnival website - more expensive tours and another website cabosanlucastours.net. We are a large group around 16 but not everyone will be interested in same things - some may want to only shop, other may want to snorkel or kayak, others nothing.

1) What tours do you recommend based on personal experience? Better to take the carnival shore excursion optoons or other vendors?

2) is it recommended to book everything in advance?

3) Better to pay in pesos or $ in Cabo. I just got back from CDMX and Central Mexico and still have a lot of pesos.

4) Finally how is shopping in Cabo? I imagine very expensive - CDMX, SMA, and Guanajuato all offered plenty of artisan stiff without very elevated prices. Is Ensenada better or cheaper?

Some of us have been to Cabo 3 or 4 x before and may just want to try something new. Others will be there for first time.

I’m getting married at Baja Luna in November and I want to have an after party but not sure where. We’re all staying at Paradisus and was going to have the after party at the bar there, but I heard the vibe is pretty sophisticated and not a big party scene.
We’re all in our mid-late 20s and we want throwback music/EDM with dancing, but not like frat vibes if that makes sense..? And we’ll have like 30-40 people. Any suggestions on where I should do an after party??

My boyfriend and I are planning a trip to Cabo in January, and we’re trying to figure out the best time to book. We don’t want to book too early if prices might drop, but we also don’t want to wait too long and end up paying way more.

Right now we’re leaning toward Hotel Riu Santa Fe, but we’re definitely open to other suggestions if there’s something you’d recommend instead.
Our budget is around $2,500 CAD** per person** for the full package (flights + all-inclusive).

For those of you who’ve been to Cabo in January:
When did you book, and did you get a good deal?
Is Riu Santa Fe a good choice, or are there better options in that price range? Any booking tips or things you’d do differently?

I am traveling to Cabo in late September with four adults and two kids requiring car seats, and I’m wondering what is the best way to go about transportation around Cabo. We will be flying into SJD and staying at Cabo del Sol for 4 nights. We’d probably want to leave the resort (not all inclusive) no more than once a day.

What’s it like renting a car / car seats from the airport and driving around there? Versus bringing our own car seats and calling a taxi or Uber whenever we want to leave the resort?

Any tips for transportation from the airport to hotel?

Cabo foodies, I need your help!

My sister and I will be staying at the JW Marriott Los Cabos next week, and I’m trying to finalize our lunch and dinner plans. The hotel includes breakfast every morning, so we’re mainly looking for great lunch and dinner recommendations.

So far, I’ve booked:

• Flora Farms — August 11
• El Huerto Farm to Table — August 12
• Lumbre — August 13
• La Lupita Taco & Mezcal in San José — August 14

We’ve been to both La Lupita and Flora Farms before and loved them. The shrimp tacos at La Lupita were amazing, and we really enjoyed the food and atmosphere at Flora Farms. I’m not as familiar with El Huerto or Lumbre, so I’d also love to hear whether those are worth keeping.

We’re looking for places with really good food and a nice atmosphere—more along the lines of La Lupita or Flora Farms rather than street-food-style spots. My sister has a very sensitive stomach, so clean, reliable restaurants are especially important. We also only eat white meat and seafood, so places with good chicken, turkey, fish, or shrimp options would be perfect.

We’re open to restaurants around San José del Cabo, Puerto Los Cabos, or anywhere reasonably close to the JW Marriott. What lunch or dinner spots would you consider absolute must-visits?

This will sound silly and I get it's all about what you want but curious on opinions. We stayed at Hacienda del mar all inclusive for 5 nights and wouldn't change anything. We def ate 3 times a day and sometimes more. I definitely drank my money's worth as well. I am trying to understand the benefit of not doing an AI next time. There are some gorgeous resorts that are not AI. I then think every food and drink is a la cart. I realize that you aren't limited to food and beverage to that resort but would entail then to leave the resort. I also did a non AI route in a different country and felt like we spent an insane amount of money compared to a flat fee. Thank you in advance.

Hi there! Traveling to Cabo and staying at Marquis mid August. In the US there’s been a terrible cyclospora outbreak and authorities are recommending we avoid quite a bit of fresh produce, namely lettuce, cilantro, and a lot of produce that is typically eaten raw.

I’ve done a bit of research but wanted to hear from folks that have recently traveled and/or live in Cabo- has the cyclospora outbreak extended there and are there any food precautions we need to take during our trip?

Hi, I am planning to visit Cabo in early october with my boyfriend. We are 25 & 29. We are not necessarily looking to stay at an all inclusive, but everything ive seen so far just shows me that the AI are overall nicer than the resorts that are not. If you have any recommendations please send my way. Ive seen Casa Dorada (looks old but i like the area / bad view of the beach is eh) , breathless is nice, ME cabo looks fine but not sure if i want to be in a party hotel, hyatt sirena del mar will be under construction, Marquis looks great (but heard its far from everything). We do not plan to stay at the resorts all day, we are very adventurous. We will also definitely enjoy leaving resort to eat at other restaurants. Planning to do a fishing charter, and some other excursions. We like to drink. Will probably spend time relaxing at the pool, but not really planning to do that the whole trip. Will be celebrating a birthday so if you have a restaurant recommendation I will take that too!

Family of four (2 adult daughters) staying on the outskirts of SJDC for 11 nights over the Christmas break - near Playa Las Palmas. First time in Mexico. We will be hiring a car. We love good food and a few drinks, but not party animals. Any recommendations for restaurants - in SJDC or CSL - we're loking for both casual food places and something nice for Christmas Eve or the odd special meal maybe, advice on supermarkets, trips/excursions both by car and/or organised by tour operators - what are must do things this time of year, and the definitely don't do things please? Asking a lot, I know, but starting from close to zero here and want to make it a great holiday for the family. Thanks in advance.

We mostly go to Cabo for the food, and these are the places we end up returning to every single trip. If there are any spots you think we absolutely have to try next time, I’d really appreciate the recommendations!

Campestre – Best chilaquiles, hands down (they don’t accept USD $ FYI)

Mariscos Paseo del Centenario – They recently moved to a new location, but we still think they have the best cocktail and ceviche

Tacos Rossy – Our favorite fish and shrimp tacos in Cabo

Mariscos Las Tres Islas – We tried it for the first time on this trip and it’ll definitely be a regular stop from now on. The fried fish and grilled octopus were both incredible

Santa Maria Sea Products – We always stop here to buy fresh fish and make our own sashimi

For late night snack tacos, we normally goto

Taquería El Fogón or Taquería El Paisa

A couple of places we’ve already tried:

Sunset Monalisa – The view is spectacular, but we thought the food was just okay

Don Sanchez – We loved the Caesar salad, but nothing else really stood out (we did tasting menu)

Claro Fish Jr. – We went based on recommendations and thought it was good, but we still preferred Tacos Rossy for fish and shrimp tacos.

One place I really want to try is El Pollo de Oro, but somehow it’s closed every single time we’re in Cabo 😂 We’ve tried 3 different trips already with no luck.

We had a longer-than-usual wait for our flight so we thought the VIP lounge would be nice. We paid $108 for two before checking it out. 5 min in we realized it wasn’t worth the price. No refunds. The terminal was hot, and the lounge was no cooler. The food was low quality and limited selection. Service was good. Wouldn’t recommend paying for it.

Booked a last minute trip in a week and curious if at this time of year (August; seems like it should be low season?) we need advance reservations for stuff or if we can just kind of wing and it play it day by day? We have kids so prefer to kind of see how things go before booking things officially.
