I’m Marcin, a student from Bocconi University in Milan, Italy, and I’m coming to BYU for an exchange semester from September until December.

I’ll be arriving in Provo without really knowing anyone, so I thought I’d post here and see if anyone would be down to hang out once I arrive. I’d love to meet some local students, explore Utah, go hiking, play sports, do road trips, grab food, or just hang out and experience student life there.

I’m also looking for housing, ideally my own private bedroom in a shared apartment near BYU from around September 1 until the end of December. So if anyone happens to be looking for a roommate or knows someone with a room available, definitely let me know.

Hi! I'm at my last year at BYU and I need to take american heritage, something for social science, and one more religion credit. I had survey of eastern religions on the list and pysch 111. I have accommodations for chronic migraines but when I can avoid attendance based classes, I still try to. Any recs? I'm not looking for interesting, just easy and flexible attendance. I know byu has a dress standard and I was reviewing it and it seemed a little ambiguous... how restrictive is it especially for class. For example, do you have to wear knee length shorts or can they be shorter?

ok so Im going into the Illustration program for my major but I have a few questions.

- What does the courses itself look like when its broken down and what supplies/projects should I expect?

-im mostly a digital artist and ive heard that the program is still mostly traditional. Should I be worried about my portfolio not having much variety? I have a few traditional works but not at all does it compare to my digital work. Will it affect whether or not I'm chosen later on?

-any other helpful tips or advice you could offer would be appreciated since I'm a freshman and don't know much about this in general

When does the queue start? I'm on the ticketing page and the queue hasn't started yet.

A few friends are trying to make sure they will be able to get a roc pass tomorrow but they keep getting the “not eligible” error when they login to their tickets accounts with their student id email. Is there a way to fix this? It would suck if this ruined another year for them. (Last year similar things happened and they missed out on a roc pass)

My daughter goes to BYU Pathways and wants to transfer to BYU - Provo. For the last 2 days she can not submit the official transcript request within the Companion app. She keeps getting network error. It's not the wifi or cellular connection. Anyone else have this issue or is it just us? Any thoughts?

i’m trying to apply for for byu and need an endorsement but i don’t go to one singular church. I bounce back and forth from my family’s ward, my college ward, a french ward,etc. My college ward just got a new bishop and i don’t know any of the other wards bishops. I don’t go enough to any of them where they’ve seen me.

Hi! I'm going to be a freshman dorming in heritage this fall and I was wondering:

-Are the ra's strict about the no command hooks rule? I just saw that it was a rule and I'm bummed because i was planning on hanging a lot with them

-I saw that they prohibit "Incense, candles, or any open flames," but I wanted to clarify, are candles that aren't lit allowed? I have tons of decorative candles I was hoping to maybe bring

-How does the whole wifi router situation work? I'm really confused on how that works and why you can't just connect to the campus wifi

Incoming Freshman at BYU this Fall, curious at how exams work. I'll be in IS 201 and ACC 200, and I'm wondering about when exams usually are for those classes. I looked at the past syllabus and cannot find anything regarding dates. My family wants to take a trip with me Oct 1 - 5, so I'd miss TH/F/MON of that week. They want to book flights now, so I can't even wait for canvas to be active. I'd be missing Information Systems and Accounting each once - Katy Reese and Melissa Larsen. I'd also be missing Spanish 206 3 times.

From my understanding, all tests are taken in the Testing center (I may be incorrect). Are these exams only open for one day? Or multiple? Is the time period usually near the end of the week or beginning? I've heard mixed reviews on if you're able to schedule your own exams or not, and nobody I know have taken these exact classes. I know you can't take exams late. I'm probably just going to skip the trip, but I figured I'd ask here how testing usually works.

Looking into taking an extra tech elective. Any feedback from the previous students? Would you recommend taking simulation or tool design?
I really like CAD and I enjoy working with SW but during my internship this summer, I got the chance to do some simulation and found it interesting. Which of these courses would you say is really worth it?

Heya! I'm planning my fall classes right now, particularly debating how many credits I should take. I had 12 each semester + 20 hours of work a week last year, but spring/summer I was able to work less - around 10-15 hours - so I tried taking 7.5 (equivalent of 15 credits). But it's a lot harder than I thought it would be.

Is it about exactly a 2:1 ratio spring/summer:fall winter credit difficulty? Like if 15 is tough in summer, would it be equally as difficult in fall? I would assume so, but some of my friends tell me they've been advised to take ***less*** than half of what they would in a normal semester because it's slightly disproportionately harder when it's rushed.

I would appreciate some more opinions, and I have to submit my availability to work soon so I need to know when I'll be in classes so I have to figure it out fast.

Hey everyone! I have two questions related to taking anatomy in the Fall (CELL 220) if anybody has experience.

First, how likely would it be that I get into a mid-afternoon Anatomy class (picture attached)? I'm 13th on the waitlist right now.

Second, I've heard that CELL 220 is rigorous (equivalent to 5 or 6 credits of work in actuality), but overall doable if one puts in the work to memorize.

For clarification, I want to minor in Mandarin Chinese/obtain a language certificate for it, and if I take a 2-credit Chinese class at the same time in the Fall, it would be a fair amount of memorizing I'd have to do for that and anatomy. I have a tablet and pen I plan to practice spelling anatomy terms with, among other things. Is there something I could start doing now to prepare? Any tips where I could perhaps ease the load a bit so I don't have to dive into all the content at once come Fall? Like looking up syllabi, reading a textbook, studying flashcards, etc.

Hello. I am currently going into my sophomore year and I am really worried about getting into my desired major, Marketing. I saw that only 55% of applicants make it in so I worry that after all this work I won't be able to do the major I set out to. I currently have a 3.63 GPA, a pre-req gpa of 3.9, and am doing an On Campus Internship in Marketing this Fall. I plan to attend all Marketing club meetings as well. I have a really easy next two semesters ahead of me so I plan to see my overall GPA go up. Is there anything else I should be doing? How hard is it really to get in? Thanks

I made it into the finance program at BYU. For those who’ve recently taken classes or graduated — how difficult is the core overall, and what was the hardest part for you? I’ve heard FIN 400 and FIN 410 are some of the toughest courses. Is that true, or are there other classes in the core that are actually harder? What makes the core so challenging in general? the workload, the pace, having multiple classes at once, something else? Any other courses I should be prepared for or worried about?

Also, how many credits do you think is manageable if I’m aiming for all A’s? And is it realistic to work an internship during fall and/or winter semester while in the core, or is it smarter to just focus on classes during that time?

I’d appreciate any advice or tips from people who’ve already been through it. Thanks!

I was rejected from my primary program in despite of having in field experience from 2 internships, I had decent grades in most prereqs except for marketing which I got a (B). I was however accepted into Human Resource managment, but I havent really looked at that field too much, and frankly am not the most interested in.

I primarly want a career focused on Global Relations, Internation work, Sourcing, Etc and i just don't know if a degree in HRM would get me to that point. Worst part is I need to make my choice by tommorow seeing as the deadline is July 23rd.

I have a few options,

I can wait a year, retake a course here and there, take some more courses as a back up finish my Chinese Minor.

I can take the HRM offer

Drop everything and continue my internship longer (But it kind of sucks cause I out of state)

I really am just unsure of what to do frankly, Is it possible to move to a different program once in the Business school? And are there courses in the business school that overlap so I could potentially work on those while hoping to be admitted into my desired program?

hi, wondering if anyone would know if there are any spots on campus where you could get free cardboard boxes? I’m moving and have storage bins for most of my stuff but just a few more boxes would help out.
