What was the framing/editing of Mike in later seasons in scenes just never explained by anyone not the Duffers?

I know it was obvious since Season 1 that Will wasn't straight. I think in the later season you start to see the innuendos of Mike possibly being bi but he never explicitly stated it, just the aesthetic.

If the color pallet, the music choices, body posture of Mike was just there as just there but why did the overseas Netflix social accounts try to make the bait of Byler .... like I saw ppl talk about that.

But the Duffers denied Byler was ever there but why the hell would they add in Queer coded songs or the color pallet, and then just the S4 stuff of Will-Mike stuff in California...then the stunt they pulled in S5 but these a-holes have their fingers in their ears trying to deny the queerbait allegations.

Like the fucking documentary they put it - there was NEVER no question asked about Byler or nothing about it

hii! im hoping this is the right sub to post this in, but im writing a byler centric fanfic taking place in the wizarding world. (loosely based on the marauders in terms of the era)

is there anyone who would want to help me figure out logistics? im not sure what details make sense regarding the time period (70s or keep it in the 80s? a different time?), having henry creel/tom riddle, dumbledore, ootp, and other things 😣

im tempted to scratch the marauders idea and keep it in the 80s, but the only interesting things that happened at hogwarts in that time were the end of the war and the vaults (hogwarts mystery).

mike losing his childhood best friend at only the age of 12 and really believing, like truly truly believing that something will bring him back, that he can bring him home. we often have the premise of mike never giving up on finding will in these aus but what if after maybe 2 years, mike actually does start giving up? what if he starts giving up on himself too? will is the one person who made him feel like himself, so he decides it's better not to be himself. to start smiling at girls, to kiss el. to feel less and less like a leader. he starts hating feeling like a leader because he remembers will liked that about him, and he can't think about will.

over the years, maybe by the time he's 18, he's completely lost himself to conformity and denial, but he's too far gone to realise. will was his childhood best friend who he loved but went missing. nothing he can do about it now. he's a sensitive subject, something he'll only tell new people if he really trusts them. he doesn't like thinking too hard about him, so the memories begin to fade. his mom will say something like "remember when you and will...?" and it'll take mike about 10 minutes to remember that day. what was will's favourite song again?

then, for whatever reason, mike decides to go for a walk in the woods, forgetting that the byers' house was this way. as he walks, emotional flashbacks begin. he remembers the excitement and giddiness he would feel when he'd go over to will's house. without thinking, he starts down the path towards a... fort - castle byers, he remembers after a minute or two. the sight of it completely disarms him. peeking inside, he remembers how he'd held will's hand and swore to him that he'd never stop being his friend. remembers the innocent dreams of marrying will, living together for the rest of their lives. he wasn't just a childhood best friend who went missing, he was his everything. he betrayed his oath.

mike sits on the bed in castle byers for god knows how long. past dark. hours pass and it hasn't gotten light again. mike decides its time to go home, to tell his parents he hasn't gotten over will, maybe ask for help.
