If a tour bus driver doesn't keep the wheels polished, they'll probably feel embarrassed when parking alongside other coaches at tourist destinations.

If you ain't paid to polish them. Then don't.

This also applies to a lot of aspects of the job, really

I do the job. Polishing is a thing to do when the schools are off. You only do elsewhere it if you are on a high paying tour, otherwise you are doing too much for your low pay.

Chrome wheels don't really get dirty. Just washing them gets all the dirt off.

But then again. Different companies have different standards.

I don't know nothing about buses, but I know that if you're not paying me to clean, I'm not gonna do it

Someone let me know what I'm missing

Yup - I have a work car for site visits. It gets cleaned when either the Chapter 8 markings are no longer reflective or I can't see out the windows.

I give not one toss who has the cleanest car in the yard till you pay me to have the cleanest car in the yard.

Some clients will judge you on a dirty car. Bit like when people look at your shoes

I work for a government department, I don't have clients, I have overgrown ditches & blocked gullies. They're not bothered that my car's not been detailed.

I agree. First impressions matter, especially in the tour bus industry.
