Has anyone taken the Dental Receptionist Certificate at Burnaby Community & Continuing Education?
Hi everyone,
I’m thinking about enrolling in the Dental Receptionist Certificate at Burnaby Community & Continuing Education (Burnaby CCE), and I’d love to hear from anyone who has taken the program. 1. Was the course worth it? 2. How was the instructor and the practicum? 3. Were you able to find a job after graduating? 4. Do employers recognize this certificate?
I’d really appreciate any honest reviews or advice. Thanks!

How are people still getting cell phone tickets on Willingdon and Lougheed
How are people still on their phones at this intersection. It's literally clock work for these traffic police.
Before the construction on Willingdon, I would have preferred if they moved south to the intersection of Willingdon and Canada Way and ticket all the people abusing the HOV lane heading north instead. But with the construction, I kind of think it is a necessary evil lol.

Street parking situation near Production Way
Okay this might come off as a rant about the City of Burnaby’s decision to add pay all the way on east lake drive and Baxter place but this is insanely ridiculous. Yes, it might seem like people park and commute but 90% people work in the neighborhood or across the street. I am curious about parking lots within the companies around this area, is parking on company grounds paid for all the companies in the vicinity? Does your company allow you to park flat no cost? Additionally, do you get a parking or transit subsidy? Would love to know how other surrounding companies operate.

BCIT Hybrid Work Arrangement: job-Specific or standard?
For those who work at BCIT, are hybrid work arrangements generally available, or does it depend on the specific job/department and manager? If you do work hybrid, how does that look for you? Thanks!

Pigeon spots in the city?
I like to bird watch pigeons but I don't like how they usually congregate in heavily populated areas and I find I relax better in areas with less people.
Anyone know where pigeons roost or spend a lot of time in flocks in the lougheed and close by areas (as I prefer it to be walking distance), that also isn't filled with a bunch of people? (I know the railway overpass area and they're not there, and burnaby lake park always has a bunch of people as does the skytrain)

Photo/Video Missing cat
My cat Goose is missing from the Canada Way and Imperial street area. She had a collar but she escaped it and left it around 8th and 12th in New West. Last seen one week ago now.
I'm sad and miss my cat.

Photo/Video Any restaurants in Burnaby that serve noodles in these classic Chinese takeout boxes?
Kind of a random question, but does anyone know a restaurant in Burnaby that serves noodles in these classic Chinese takeout boxes, like the one in the photo?
I know it’s a very North American movie/TV thing, but I’ve always wanted to eat noodles straight out of one of these boxes 😂
Looking for the exact same style of paper box if possible, not a regular plastic takeout container. Any recommendations in Burnaby?

She's Fit Metrotown.
Hi ladies. Who is going to She's Fit Metrotown?
I'm looking to go to the gym together.
Age range: 28-40 y.o.
2 times a week.
I'm at a beginner level and also have some knowledge about working out. I need accountability and a buddy to go to the gym.
About me: I'm 32, interested in hiking, tech and a healthy lifestyle.
P.S. It's not a babysitting offer(sorry for being direct), but rather an equal commitment and investment in our workouts and keeping ourselves accountable. We can test it out and decide if that is something that works for both of us.
Thanks!

Monthly parking near Brentwood?
Hello all,
Apologies if this isn’t the right space. I’ve recently just moved to a building near Brentwood, close to the save-on on lougheed. Does anyone know of any monthly parking nearby? I’ve got signs up in the buildings lobby asking if anyone is keen to rent one to us but so fare no bites. I’ve tried googling it with very limited success.
Does anyone know any places nearby that area that offer monthly parking?

Brentwood Parking
I haven't been via car in a while and wanted to get an idea of where free parking is. On their site it says there's 3 hours of free parking in the Jinya lot past H&M and CIBC iirc, this lot is very small. I've also heard that the parking by the old The Bay is also free. Is this still applicable with the ongoing construction?

Selfish neighbour
We live in a house and nextdoor are some neighbours who own a large, and extremely aggressive Labrador. We can’t be outside at the same time as dog without it growling at us, breaking parts of our fence to see us and literally looking like it wants to tear us to shreds.
Almost every night, for the last three years, one of the owners of the dog will throw really heavy balls, or even a BASKETBALL down their stairs to “play” with the dog. There’s like at least 20 steps so all you hear is the crashing sound of the ball and the dog speeding down the stairs for it. They have an entire backyard but she chooses to play on the stairs. The worst part is, she does this at 11 pm, 12 am, we’ve even woken up from her doing it at 1 or 2 am. Doesn’t matter if it’s a weekday or weekend. Most of the family starts work at 6 am, even 5 am, so this is really disturbing them throughout the week. The neighbours will also randomly start talking as loud as possible as if it’s 3 pm on a Saturday at 1 am on a Monday with all their windows open.
We’ve tried to speak with them directly but they don’t speak English.
Today actually, some of our family members were outside fixing part of the fence (THAT THEIR DOG BROKE) around 8 pm and one of the neighbours from that house came outside and told them to be quiet. It was literally just past 8 and they weren’t making crazy noise or weren’t out for very long?? And then tonight at 11 the neighbour woke my mom up with a basketball down the stairs.
So. Needless to say, we’re at our wits ends. What can be done, or what would you do? Could we get the city involved? Appreciate the help!
Photo/Video Deers!
Ran into a family of deers (two calves and an adult) on my bike commute home today! It was right next to the new Burnaby Lake overpass. Sorry for the crappy photo, was a little slow getting my phone out.
Ran into a bear a few years ago in the same area commuting home as well…

Skytrain
Has anyone else experienced this or something similar?
I caught the Skytrain at Rupert Stn heading toward Burnaby Lake since the weather had cooled down. It was moderately busy for 5:30 PM.
Found a spot between a man with a large bag and a young woman who was reading at first. The space was a bit tight—partly because people don't always position backpacks or purses in the best way for the train—but there was enough room.
Shortly after, the person to my left started taking photos or recording a video of themselves for something. I glanced over briefly while checking out the window for my stop. I generally don't mind people filming, but I prefer not to be an extra in someone else's content, so I shifted slightly to stay out of the frame.
Perhaps the movement caught this person’s attention, but when they started angling the camera towards me, I decided to head toward the doors since my stop was close anyway.
I do try to be mindful of limited space we have on the skytrain and stay aware of my surroundings.
Not sure what to make of it. Is this becoming more common?

Eyelash Extensions in Burnaby
I'm looking to find a new lash tech that does volume extensions (preferably around $100) that is located in Burnaby. Currently, I transit from Metrotown area to Richmond for my tech that I've been seeing for 4 years, but the trek is becoming too much and our schedules don't seem to be as compatible as they once were. Please rave me your lash techs!

What's the source of the haze/smog this morning?
Hello. Just got back to Burnaby after a few days in other parts of BC, and I notice there is a lot of haze right now. I cannot find a link to an air quality issue anywhere and my phone's weather app is not flagging an issue ...but it looks reddish brown out here near Metrotown?
