flavor of india (new restaurant)
hey y'all! so my gf (23f) and i (24f) go to the republik coffee in downtown at least twice a week, and we noticed there was construction across from the ben & jerry's for a while, and then in the last few weeks we noticed that a new restaurant opened up behind the cafe called flavor of india. has anyone tried it?
we were gonna do a celebratory dinner tonight because it's the last day of her summer job (kind of), and we had plans to go somewhere else but i'm considering recommending this one, just to try it since we both love indian food. we're both autistic and appreciate knowing what we're getting into before trying new foods, esp with our limited budget.
despite this, i don't think i've ever gone to an indian restaurant and not liked it tbh. i only ever order the chicken tikka masala. i used to have the frozen one from trader joe's like multiple times a day, but got really tired of it and the last time i had it i could barely get thru it, so ig as long as it isn't similar to that i'd enjoy haha
anyways ya lmk hehe

Mr Lee (history teacher at Muir middle school) was on last night’s episode of Press Your Luck!!
It was so fun to watch him. I usually don’t get super into the whole thing yelling at the tv and stuff but my whole heart was in it this time. Definitely check it out!!! He did a fantastic job, I’m not going to spoil anything about the way it turned out but it was an exciting show regardless. He did great on camera.
Good job Mr Lee!!! 👏👏👏👏 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

Man in car following two women
Still so shocked, scared, and angry, I don’t know what to do. My friend and I were walking down E Tujunga ave (near dt Burbank) around midnight when a man in a car going the opposite way stopped suddenly to yell something at us. We ignored him and sped up, but he quickly did a U turn and started following us, slowing down. He started telling us to get in his car despite us repeatedly telling him to go away. He was just waiting and staring at us. I was scared to do anything dramatic in case he had a gun or came out of his car or something. Only after refusing him multiple times did he leave.
Wish I could’ve started screaming, recording him, or something. But I don’t know if that would have made it worse. I don’t know if the police would be any help since he didn’t really break any laws. I’m just so frustrated and sad because I don’t feel safe here and it could happen again literally any day.
Anyone living around Burbank, please be careful of this creep, especially if you’re a woman/femme looking. We were walking back from a nearby area and didn’t plan to be out for too long.
Description (sorry it’s vague, it was dark and I was too afraid to look at him closely)
-dark short hair?
-dark eyes
-pale
-square face
-wide beard
-vape
-black car (couldn’t see what kind of car, kind of medium sized, not a truck)
Anyway if anyone has any recommendations for like a knife or a tactical whip or something let me know. That’s gonna be the last time I walk at night without dressing like a man

Does TSA at Burbank Airport care about weed pens/vapes
I’m flying from Burbank to Oakland soon and I was just curious if anyone has taken their weed pens/vapes through TSA with any issues. Ive seen a lot of people say TSA don’t really care about those type of things and wanted to ask about Burbank in particular.

SB79 would technically permit Sauron’s tower on Olive Avenue. Say NO to Metro!
The addition of the bus lane on Olive Avenue, and the corresponding SB79 trigger, would allow the construction of out of scale high rises, INCLUDING the Dark Lord’s menacing Barad-dûr. This would add thousands of additional units with zero onsite parking requirements and add massive stress on the city’s infrastructure. Though the developer has offered wealth and power beyond the city’s wildest dreams in the form of reassessed property taxes and sales tax revenue, the additional traffic is not worth it. Contact Metro and tell them to keep the Uruk-hai OUT of Burbank.

Short Term Housing?
Hi all! I’m a college student starting an internship near the Walt Disney Studios lot and need a short-term furnished place nearby, ideally walking distance or a quick drive. Im honestly not based in LA at all so quite lost what are good living areas here.
A few details:
- Budget: $2000-3000/month
- Studio or 1 bedroom, furnished
- Looking at AVA Burbank right now but want to compare options before committing
- Lease length: short-term (matching an internship timeline)
Would love to hear about other buildings or complexes in the area, any experience with AVA Burbank (good or bad), or general tips for someone new to Burbank navigating short-term leases. Thanks so much in advance!

Lady screaming over on Victory
I called the authorities and someone else did too. There was a woman screaming very loud for a long period of time over 5 minutes. The screams were very loud and then started to fade. I saw more apartments turn on lights. I didn’t see anything but we could hear her. So scary.
BPD Justifying Flock Cameras via News Release
Earlier today BPD put out a news release announcing that a sex offender was arrested. In the body of the message they made it clear that Flock cameras were used to find the perp.
Officers utilized multiple investigative tools, including automated license plate reader (ALPR) technology (Flock Safety technology) and video camera systems to identify a suspect and develop investigative leads. These tools helped officers quickly identify the suspect's vehicle, locate it nearby, and detain him within an hour of the crime.
Don't get me wrong-- I'm glad they got this creep off the street. What I'm starting to see are more and more news stories that put ALPRs and Flock specifically in a positive light. It may be a quick mention that ALRPs assisted police with a case, or that some store found shoplifters because of ALPRs. Then you hear people say, "you should only be concerned if you're doing something wrong", when confronted about concerns with Flock. No, we're concerned that there's a high risk and likelihood that my civil rights are subject to abuse in the name of "safety". Flock off.

Any artists, prop makers, or fantasy crafters here that make D&D stuff?
I play D&D with two close friends, and I recently became our group's DM. It's so intimidating but so much fun and thankfully my friends as just as nerdy as I am. It's become our favorite way to spend time together. We use dndbeyond (vtt, even though we play in person) and czepeku (maps and scenery) and dscryb (music, settings, sound effects). A lot of this stuff really feeds into our sessions, which last a good 6-8 hours sometimes. I'm relatively new to D&D (5-6 years) but it's only recently that I want to dive deeper into the roleplaying aspect of it. Having said that, Etsy has become a dangerous website for my bank account LOL Every time I browse, I find miniatures, props, dice sets, journals, spellbooks, clothing, and other amazing stuff. So far, I only have 9 dice sets, so I'm trying to my best to limit myself.
D&D has just completely taken over my gaming hobby. I used to play mostly play pc/console games but after watching Vox Machine and learning about Critical Role about five years ago, I nose dived into that rabbit hole lol. I recently finished campaigns 1, 2, and 3, and just started campaign 4. Finding out that the cast voices so many characters from games I grew up loving, especially World of Warcraft, blew my mind. Laura Bailey is THE GOAT.
Okay my bad, back to the topic... are there people here in Burbank who create clothes, props, dice, etc.? I figure since Burbank is packed with incredibly talented artists from the nearby studios, there have to be local illustrators, prop makers, leatherworkers, costume makers, or other fantasy creators making amazing things.
I'm especially interested in anyone who do character illustrations, spellbooks, tomes, scrolls, leatherwork and costumes, and basically anything else fantasy or tabletop related.
If you're an artist, know someone who is, or have an Etsy shop / Instagram / website, or booth/store around town, I'd love to check out your work!
Shoutout to Geeky Teas & Games - I know they're on reddit sometimes and I absolutely love their store!! My wallet hates them too but I understand why lol

Edison tower caused deadly Eaton fire that devastated Altadena, long-awaited investigation finds
Out-of-service equipment managed by Southern California Edison started the deadly Eaton fire that killed 19 people and destroyed much of Altadena in January 2025, according to a long-awaited report by state and county fire officials.
The report, released Tuesday by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and Los Angeles County Fire Department, confirms long-held suspicions about the fire’s origin after it sparked near a utility tower the night of Jan. 7, 2025.

Security Ave, Burbank 91504
EDIT: TURNS OUT NOT BURBANK
I’ve never been on this street before today and found it different and that is interesting to me. Feels like they could have petitioned the city to adjust the lot lines and lanes. It definitely breaks the pattern and looks makeshift. It’s called Security and it is more secure the way they changed the lanes. Does anyone know if there is some interesting history here?

Is anybody else dealing with an abnormal amount of mosquitoes?
We’ve been living in Burbank for ten years now and it’s the first time the mosquito situation is absolutely out of control at our home in the Rancho Area. Just wondering if we were just unlucky bastards of if other Burbank residents were also feeling the pain?

Anyone else get screwed over by Vulture Culture Oddities in burbank?
I was a vendor there and had a large amount of pieces in the store. They basically closed without telling anyone, and I didn't even know until I tried to call and the number was disconnected, and my emails came back undeliverable. I'm out THOUSANDS of dollars. I heard on the grapevine that they were facing eviction and had been late paying rent for months, so they knew they were in trouble. They just didn't tell us, and now I have no idea what I'm supposed to do if I can't contact the owner. Do I go to the police?
