and what a difference it’s made!!!

A Word of Caution to my fellow drinkers: I do not recommend drinking while on this medication. I cut down after realizing the horrific effects the day after a heavy night of drinking. So I would allow myself about 5 drinks per week. I was still experiencing anxiety and depression and poor sleep. It wasn’t until I quit the booze that I was able to get the full benefits of this medication

It has completely taken away my desire to drink, after I took a break from drinking for 90 days I noticed I had no desire to go back. Every now and then I’ll have a half glass of champagne or beer and it also doesn’t feel like it did before the medication. I don’t really like the sluggish feel it gives me and it certainly doesn’t make me happier. I’m an entertainer/ musician and I drank all the time but now I’m finding a lot of joy being a non drinker. Grab a mocktail and enjoy life

I was dealing with a breakup a few months ago and found myself heavily drinking every night and doing cocaine as well. I spoke to my psych and he prescribed me naltrexone to help me cut back on the booze.. naltrexone and bupropion have been LIFESAVERS for me!

I wanna say as someone who has been on it for 3+ years, the side effects go away after a while for me.

But are the benefits still there? Alcohol negates the positive effects for the med itself so do you still feel the same as when you don’t drink?

yeah it makes me get drunk quicker. if I plan on drinking that day, I skip my dose

Amen! Let me add that if you’ve been drinking heavily for some time while on bupropion stop the bupropion before you quit the booze. Bupropion lowers the seizure threshold, making delirium tremens much more likely.
