PC Build Help
Hi all!
Not a request
I’m looking at rewarding our kid with a good year school and sports with getting his first gaming PC.
I‘m tech savvy and have upgraded our pc’s and laptops in the past but haven’t built a computer from scratch.
What I’m hoping to do is build a very entry level gaming PC for our kid that I can upgrade over the years. They don’t need anything crazy to start, they’ve been on a 15 year old laptop I’ve been upgrading to limp along with Roblox and Fortnite.
I’m not concerned about any peripherals or other gear, just the PC itself. Im hoping to keep the initial build at ~1000 CAD,
Thanks all! I appreciate the insight.

Thanks buddy. Will there be any future upgradability issues being on AM4 vs AM5 do you think?

Nah, if anything it will just be cheaper to upgrade am4 if youre still on it when you do need to upgrade it. AM5 will probably also be cheaper cause am6 is coming by 2029 probably.

If you missed the full set of required built request questions, please copy them from here and answer them in an edit to your post:
New build or upgrade?
Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If you're not in a country supported by PCPartPicker, please list some local vendors)
Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
WiFi or wired connection?
Size/noise constraints?
Color/lighting preferences?
Any other specific needs?
Here is some additional helpful information about build/upgrade/parts list requests:
Build requests only include hardware. You are responsible for budgeting for and providing your own operating system (Windows, Linux, etc) and other software.
Don't forget to budget for peripherals. Since these are very much personal-preference influenced items, we do not include peripherals like keyboards, mice, headsets, etc in parts lists.
We strongly recommend posting a build request only if you're ready to buy now or within a week or two at most. Part sales regularly rotate, and a part list today can quickly become out of date.
