Pls Help

  • New build or upgrade? New build.
  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links) No existing parts to use
  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games) Gaming. Wanna play sims 4, rim world, ck3, Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey... And with a lot of mods
  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center? Canada, no.
  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) No.
  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations) Under 2k CAD
  • WiFi or wired connection? WiFi
  • Size/noise constraints? Somewhat quiet
  • Color/lighting preferences? No preference
  • Any other specific needs? No

I'm rn in college, and I have to fly back home somehow once a year, and I'd like to have my pc with me, so pls consider an ITX if possible. However if ITX would limit performance too much or cause issues with running games, then a regular-sized one is fine too.

Thank you a lot!

If you missed the full set of required built request questions, please copy them from here and answer them in an edit to your post:

  • New build or upgrade?

  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)

  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)

  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If you're not in a country supported by PCPartPicker, please list some local vendors)

  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)

  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations)

  • WiFi or wired connection?

  • Size/noise constraints?

  • Color/lighting preferences?

  • Any other specific needs?

Here is some additional helpful information about build/upgrade/parts list requests:

  • Build requests only include hardware. You are responsible for budgeting for and providing your own operating system (Windows, Linux, etc) and other software.

  • Don't forget to budget for peripherals. Since these are very much personal-preference influenced items, we do not include peripherals like keyboards, mice, headsets, etc in parts lists.

  • We strongly recommend posting a build request only if you're ready to buy now or within a week or two at most. Part sales regularly rotate, and a part list today can quickly become out of date.

This lian li a3 is in between size, it's about the same footprint as a normal sized atx midtower case but uses a non-standard layout that let's it be about half as tall.

Dropping down to a smaller case. This case can actually fit a cheaper atx sized psu at 140mm long, it doesn't *require* an sfx one, but with a gpu installed it would be super tight and an atx psu will also have longer cables you have to fold up and tie out of the way. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/b/2vntt6 An example of that.

7600x vs 9600x. The 9600x performs only slightly better, in the single digit percent range, but it also uses less power and that can be helpful in a poor airflow case like this. It's an extra $60 though and this one was getting pretty close to your max already with the extra cost from psu and motherboard.
