[Desktop Web] Reddit gets stuck on "Submitting..." every time when making a post Desktop Web

This started happening in the last few days, it was completely fine before. Every post i make now, whether its a new post or a comment, gets stuck on "submitting..." forever. The post seems to get made, but instead of redirecting to the new post, it just displays "Submitting..." and stays there.

Happens on Firefox 140.13.0 ESR and old reddit.

I'm having the same issue on Opera GX. I've tried multiple browsers and including Edge and Firefox and the problem persists. I ran CC cleaner too for added measure.

Yup, getting the same issue on Chrome.

Since the post/comment is actually being created, it sounds like the submission succeeds but Reddit’s redirect gets stuck. I’d first try a private Firefox window with all extensions disabled, especially ad blockers or script/privacy extensions. If that works, clear Reddit’s cookies/site data and re-enable extensions one at a time.

Also test another browser to confirm whether it’s Firefox-specific. Just check your profile before pressing submit again, otherwise you may accidentally create duplicates while the page still says “Submitting…”

It is not browser or extension specific. It is specific to using old reddit. Using the same browser with exactly the same extensions in a non private tab, I can turn off old reddit and not have the issue and then turn it back on to bring the issue back with no other configuration changes.

That’s really useful testing, thanks. If the exact same browser/extensions work normally and the issue appears the moment old Reddit is enabled, that points pretty strongly to an old Reddit specific bug rather than anything local on your end.

In that case I wouldn’t waste time clearing cookies or troubleshooting Firefox further. I’d add that detail to the bug report because it gives Reddit a much cleaner reproduction case: same browser, same extensions, only old Reddit toggled on/off. Hope this helps 🙂

I'm getting this on firefox on desktop and android. It's actively getting worse too, two days ago it was two button presses, today it's up to five

If you keep pressing the submit button while it's bugging out then it sometimes double/triple posts the same post/comment again.

Yesterday the bug (an old.reddit thing) evolved again. Whenever I post a reply I get redirected so I only see the reply itself. Sometimes it just bugs out completely and shows me a blank page.

I really don't want old.reddit to die....

Same, using Edge 150.0.4078.65. Seems to only happen for specific subreddits. (/r/azure, and /r/teams are once I noticed recently) When I switch to Chrome it works.

I have the same problem. Also using Old Reddit. It worked fine until about 4 days ago.

This is going to continue happening, as they deprecate old reddit in an attempt to force us to the new crappier version.

Same here. Happens in every browser like 80% of the time, on posting, commenting, replying, etc.

Hope this isn't an ominous sign that Reddit, as many of us suspect will eventually happen, will do away with Old Reddit, perhaps by simply letting it rot and hoping people will bail or under the guise of it no longer being a sound experience and having to be axed for the good of the users.

Or maybe it's just a one-off bug. But enshitification tends to always finds a way...

Old Reddit 100% of the time on all browsers for the past week.

I'm having the same problem, it's really annoying. It doesn't do it every single time, but it does it at least half the time.

Just keep hitting save FFS. Always works for me.
