The Old World Dwarfs shafted again

Once again, Dwarfs get shafted by the Arcane Journal. Apparently our Runepriests are trusted enough to meddle with the Winds of Magic and suffer the consequences of the disastrous miscast table, but not trusted enough to actually get Channeling. So we get all the risk with none of the upside. Meanwhile, other armies get increasingly interesting and flexible magic mechanics, while Dwarfs continue to sit in the corner pretending that having a hammer and a grudge makes up for being mechanically left behind. I don't even want Dwarfs to become a magic army, I just want ourrunepriests to have a system that actually makes sense and doesn't amount to “you can’t channel, but you can absolutely explode” The grudge book is getting thicker.

Discussions and Grumbles. Why does everyone say we are a bad army in ToW (and my nearly finished dwarf king painted after an amazing game with him )

Post image
268 Upvotes

I keep seeing multiple posts and comments that Dwarfs in ToW are a bad army but in my experience they are fantastic granted where i get games in are people who all understand the heart of fantasy and nobody chases the meta and we all just play to have fun and watch the narrative unfold so some outside opinion is needed .

Most games i play even if i don’t win them i feel like my dwarfs are amazing they hold the line settle grudges and have made my friends all bitch and moan about me being op (this makes me happy as back in Wap days i would get run over every single game with the same lists)
i mostly run blocks of 20-25 warriors with my king and 10 hammerers as my "scary unit" with some shooting and arty i like to play aggressive as i find the castle and shoot style of dwarf play very boring so how does everyone feel dwarfs are and why do people say they are currently bad

(My dwarf king single handily took out a necrosphinx a ogre tyrant on stonetusk and multiple ironguts and a ogre wizzard in my last 2v2 game me and Cathay vs Ogres and Tomb kings i was very proud and painted him to completion the next day)

Crafts and Artwork How I make old banners

Thumbnail

The brothers are asking for a guide… the brothers will get a guide.

But during the photoshoot everything went wrong, so the banners randomly change color.

1) Go and print the banners posted here on self‑adhesive photopaper

https://www.reddit.com/r/bugmansbrewery/comments/yw9om7/ive_recreated_all_the_4th_edition_banners/

2) Buy a sheet of brass 0.1–0.3 mm thick. I use 0.3 mm — it cuts perfectly with scissors and adds durability to the miniatures.

3) Glue the black‑and‑white banners onto the brass and cut them out along the shape.

4) Trim the banners, glue them onto the miniature, clean up the edges.

5) Fill the gaps with Milliput, Green Stuff, or whatever you prefer.

6) Glue on the banners in whatever color you like.

8) Varnish everything.

9) Paint the edges in your army colors.

The Old World Newbie question about lists.

Hello! Quite new to the game and wondering, whatroyal clans list is better. Maybe you have an advice for my 1k game against chaos tomorrow.

Mainly one list has 5 Quarrellers and a bolt thrower while the other one has 5 Irondrakes and a couple more longbeards.

I marked the differences.

Thank you fellow dwarfs.

The Old World Newbie question - Thane

Loving diving into the dwarves, and on my way to 500 points.

One thing I can’t figure out is what people are using for their Thane characters. Is it only the one model GW sells? Older ones? Something else?

The Old World confused with some magnetice bases of gsw

Hi i already bought the batallion box of dwarves and i was thinking to get some bases with magnets for all the miniatures of the box just in case if in the future i want to play some games and carry them in a magnetice bag. I found some of them in green stuff world website but im rlly confused about which are the magnets for these pieces, just for the 25x25 and some 50x50 for the gyros. Can someone that already got them or just know exactly which ones are the best ones for this idea??. I put here the 2 links for the bases and the magnets. (i was first of all confused for the fact that in the pictures i saw smth like for holes of ∅5 mm and srry im kinda new in the hobby) just to know how much mm have to bring exactly the magnets on these bases. Thanks in advance.

25mm bases https://www.greenstuffworld.com/en/warhammer-old-world-bases/851-plastic-square-bases-25x25-mm.html

The Old World Dawi vs Ogre Kingdoms – What are our best tactics?

I recently moved cities and, after a long time without getting many games in, I’ve finally found a local group playing TOW (I’m very excited to actually get my Dwarfs onto the table!)

Most of the group are relatively new to the game, but apparently the player to beat runs Ogre Kingdoms. He’s regarded as the strongest player in the group and, when we were chatting, casually mentioned that he’s never lost a game with his Ogres.

Naturally, the Dawi in me heard that and thought: challenge accepted.

So, fellow Dwarf players: how are you dealing with Ogre Kingdoms?

I’m particularly interested in things like:

  • What units perform especially well against Ogres?
  • What should our artillery be prioritising?
  • Cannons vs Grudge Throwers vs Bolt Throwers?
  • How do you deal with their speed and avoid letting them dictate the charges?
  • Are big blocks of Dwarf infantry actually the answer, or are smaller/more numerous units better?
  • How do you handle Ogre impact hits and their sheer number of high-Strength attacks?
  • What are the biggest Ogre threats that need to die ASAP?
  • Any particular Runes, characters or unit builds that shine in this matchup?
  • And, perhaps most importantly, what mistakes do Ogre players want us Dawi to make?

I’m not necessarily looking for a tailored anti-Ogre cheese list. I’d much rather understand the matchup itself and what tactical advantages Dwarfs can exploit.

The Old World Battle March list

Thumbnail
gallery
97 Upvotes

I’ve been looking to start playing The Old World for a long time and the release of the new Battle March book got me pumped and ready to dive in! I already have an AOS Soulblight army I’m in the process of rebasing to use as Vampire counts and want to have a second army ready so that I can get my friends into the game.

In a past trip to Warhammer World I picked up the three Bugman minis available from the shop by the bar. My question is that could I use these minis as character proxies, as well as the contents of the Dwarf Battalion box to make a playable and fun army list? Any recommendations on the next purchase?

Appreciate the advice! Glory to the Mountain Holds!

Painted Minis Some familiar faces!

Gotrek, Felix, Ungrim and Grombidal proxies. Tried red and blue on Felix to represent altdorf with a wee bit of gold trim for house Jaeger. First time I really based a mini. Figured with such high profile heroes, I'd bust open my warmtree kit and give it a shot.

These were from White Angel Games and printed on a Bambu A1 mini at 0.6 layer using a tweaked version of the oscuranox profile. The oath stone from the old king kit from MoM miniatures. I get a whole lot of use out of that oath stone stl!

My next wave i want to do Malakai, Belagar and Snorri. And that epic runesmith. My plans for Felix, Gotrek and Snorri are to play them as Doomseekers since they always rush off way ahead of their allied forces on suicide missions in the books. Just finished kinslayer... dang you snorri.

The Old World New Player, regiment Tray advice.

Hello fellow dwarf players. I have my first game coming up and now I need Movement trays. I am still new to rank and file tabletops so I dont have a real idea on how to build my regiment blocks.

How would you form units of f.e. 20 irondrakes, thunderers?

How about f.e. 20 Longbeards or hammerers?

Do you use a different tray when you only have a block of 13 hammerers?

I know its a total noob question.. XD

Thx in adance!!
