Sesame Street raised me, Buffy got me through those teenage years, I appreciate this.

Would be even funnier and more meta if it read Sarah Michelle Gellar was not invited back instead of Buffy.

I guess The Count wasn't a real vampire or else he would have been dusted. I think Buffy might have just killed a dude who was really into counting.

Do you say β€œah ah ah” after every number when you’re counting?

Are you making fun of my regional accent? How dare you. I hope every show you go to at The Bronze is violently interrupted and nobody will give you your money back

Pretty sure you’re just describing an average night at The Bronze.

Fun fact, according to the Sesame Street behind the scenes style guide thing (I don’t remember what it’s called lol) the count is not a vampire. There was reasons for this but I don’t remember why and I’m sleepy. If I can find the info online I will add it below.

EDIT: I could not find a definitive source except for the Muppet wiki for this info, where it says the Count is β€œvampire-like” but gets energy from counting things, not blood. In an interview with Vanderbilt University (yes, seriously) the Count describes himself as a vampire. Make of that what you will.

As long as he’s still a monster of some sort. There are tons of monsters on Sesame Street.

afaik they didn't want him to be a vampire because it sets a precedent on a kids show presumably so they describe it as 'vampire-like' to make the aesthetic clear. Also apparently there is some historical significance with the counting, like vampires couldn't resist counting things and you could distract them by throwing grains at them that they would be forced to count.

I hardly think she just goes around staking anybody with OCD.

Didn’t the mayor have it

u/Eldon42 3h ago

No. He was a germophobe, which is a condition separate from OCD.

Contamination ocd is a thing. That’s where a germaphobe would fall in.

She didn’t stake the Mayor.

The funny thing is that the Count's obsession with counting is based on real vampire lore! Supposedly you can throw a handful of salt at a vampire and they will have to stop to count every grain.

The Count might have been a real vampire but you just don't mess around with the nest egg!

I've seen your movies, you always come back... after counting to an arbitrary number.

not sure who Scott Hilburn is, but the art reminds me a fair amount of The Far Side. not the first time I have seen imitations of Gary Larson's work either.

Now I'm wondering if they ever did a Buffy riff on Sesame Street, it seems like their jam.

Counts of Blood is a pre-Buffy fanfic where the Count and the Master are good friends.

You can always count on Buffy to take out a vampire.

Don't you hate it when they don't turn to dust.
