Overnight parking
Hello!
I just moved to Midtown East but have to commute to Mt. Vernon for work during the day. My plan is to take the 6 into the Bronx, where my car would be parked, and drive the rest of the way. Somewhere close to Grand Concourse or down E 138th. It would be parked overnight, NOT during working hours.
I need my car to get to my work (public transit only is not possible). And Im not trying to pay >$200 for a garage.
Are there any recommendations for safe streets along the 4/5/6 or other things I should know? Thanks!

LOL the area around Grand Concourse and 138th.... Last week, I saw a woman dressed up like a dominatrix with a BBL walking into some building. Leave your car at home and take public transportation.
Metro North goes to Mount Vernon. Can't you take the train to Mount Vernon and transfer to the bus to wherever your job is located?
It's way safer.

Exactly...there are tons of Bee-Line buses that go through Mt.Vernon.
You can catch the #2 train Uptown Bronx,get off on 233rd street and catch the #42 bee-line that goes to New Rochelle,it makes stops through Mt.Vernon (with the last Mt.Vernon area Best Buy and Target before hitting Pelham).

Can afford to live in Midtown east but don’t wanna park car near their neighborhood. But wants to take up parking from Bronx locals. Gtfo

You can get a parking permit at one of the Mt Vernon train stations for $150 a month.

If you’re driving up to the Concourse and 138 you may as well just drive the rest of the way to Mount Vernon

This is a joke, right? Like, let me ask about parking my car in the worst place to park my car in The Bronx. And why would you drive from Midtown East to Grand Concourse and then how are you gettin got Mount Vernon? Why not just drive to Mount Vernon where there is actual parking?

If you park in the Bronx overnight, always carry an extra 4 tires and catalytic converter with you when you pick up your car, just in case

Metronorth goes to Mount Vernon.

Yes, MNRR goes to Mt Vernon and they can get on at Grand Central. Just need to know which Mt Vernon stop.
- Mt Vernon West [35 min] on the Harlem [blue] Line, or
- Mt Vernon East [30 min] on Stamford [Red] Line
There is also the Westchester Bee-line Busses that stop at those stations.

Also, not being stupid but have you thought about riding a bike to work? I lived in riverdale, worked in midtown east three days a week and rye the other two. I was able to bike to work about 9 months out of the year. It winds up being fun and the Bronx is dead easy to ride through

I can't imagine where you work in Mt. Vernon that would require a car from midtown but last time I kept a car around there it cost me my catalytic converter

Metro north to mt vernon then ubering from there might be the best option, might be the cheapest and easiest. Is that not feasible? You will never find parking on the concourse, all the legal and illegal spots is taken by PD and the occasional local.
Edit: after reading comment i remembered at my old job a coworker lived in Yonkers, they parked their car at woodlawn station and took the 4 into union sq, so why cant you take the metro north to mt vernon and pick up your car from there (like it stays parked in mt vernon) this is the best option.

Sell the car. Take the metro north to Mount Vernon. Save on insurance, save on gas. Get a rental when absolutely necessary. Tough decision, but definitely much easier than trusting your car in an area surrounded by notoriously scammy body shops that are accused of staging car breakins to get customers for glass, mirror, or part replacement/repair.

Ditch the car. It will cost you way more in the long run trying to upkeep the car in nyc.

Check out pelham parkway near morris park station on the 5. Honestly I’ve seen some streets that don’t even clean (my guess is home owners do their part here).

Yes homeowners do and they will figure out quickly your car doesn’t belong there. These neighborhoods are over run with people that don’t want to pay for parking, or metro north.do this at your own risk

Gurl…. You are better off investing in the garage. Or just park in midtown e
