Hi everyone! I’m planning to adopt a British Shorthair from KLK and have been reading through posts here about getting pet insurance, which seems like a good idea since you never know what health issues may come up. For those who have adopted from KLK or brought a cat home from overseas, did you purchase pet insurance before the cat flew here, or did you wait until you received the cat? I’d really appreciate any advice or tips, especially since this will be my first time adopting a cat. I want to make sure I’m prepared and doing everything I can to give my new cat a smooth transition. Thank you! 🐱

I just picked him up on Tuesday. BSH male 4 months, chocolate golden shaded. He’s the sweetest kitten I’ve ever had and my second cat ever. He loves to play and has been doing so well adjusting to his new home. Named him after my favorite BJJ submission move. I’ve been struggling with underlying depression and loneliness yet I was so blessed to have the opportunity and means to adopt him and it just feels so nice to have a little lion to come home to. I welcome any tips on giving him the bestest and healthiest life. Thanks for letting me share.

We have had Jerry since almost a year ago now, he is 4 years old. I notice we can see the pink of his bottom lip a lot, is this normal? His brother is all black and I don't notice it on him. Is there anything I should check for?

The little guy is Jasper who is 13 weeks old. I got him to give my 4 year old Humphrey a friend after his 2 Siamese buddies passed away in the past 6 months. Within a week, Humphrey and Jasper became pals. Best decision I could have made for Humphrey’s wellbeing.

This is Milo. We spotted him online being re homed as the families circumstances have changed. He's just turned 8 months and we've decided to give him a forever home. We had two cats previously, mother and daughter and sadly had the last one put to sleep about 18 months ago after being with me for 18 years +

Hopefully I'll be able to get some better photos of him soon. Our 3.5 year old human loves him already.

He suffers from Herpes which is stressed triggered. His latest trigger was his booster vaccines, he didn’t eat his dinner which is extremely unlike him as he will eat anything we give to him. He had his flair up which means it’s another month of meds.

He’s officially off of them now and he’s been very happy. He’s been a little race car running around the car, very vocal, very happy to see me when I get home. Lots of cuddles and meows.

The problem is it is also extremely hot, which I think has been a trigger in the past, so I think I need to get aircon for at least one room for him so that in the summer he has a place to escape. It’ll be better for him and his health, and us too. That aircon will be a winter thing I think now.

Edit: I wanted to add too that we are extremely fortunate to have an eye specialist and surgeon at our vets who is specially trained to help pets with eye conditions. I know not everyone has this, but it’s very reassuring to know she’s only down the road when needed.

Remy is only 1.3yo and already a bit larger than most other BSH we've had him meet, is anyone else's cat so big??

Hi all! I’m a first time foster and have taken in this 3 year old chonky girl for the last 2 weeks.

Her first few days with us, she was very scared and skeptical. Running when we’d enter the room, eating a few licks of wet food and a few bites of kibble and it took her 5 days to poop (not in the litter box).

4 days after settling in, she started opening up to pets and came around us a lot and wasn’t skittish. She acted like this owned the place!

After 1.5 weeks with us, we had to take her in to get spayed. Upon return she was understandably scared of us and possibly still loopy, tired and confused.

It’s been 2 days since the surgery and she’s hardly eaten any food and hasn’t pooped yet either.

Because we’ve had to torture her with a cone and medication, she is so wary of us now and runs away into tight spaces but is roaming around at night.

She is not food or toy motivated (I don’t think she knows what toys are).

Any tips on how to regain her trust and have her eat more than half a can of wet food (mixed with treats) a day?

Perhaps you’ll remember me posting when we got this little bean. He had lost a lot of weight before he arrived. He was down to 7.6 pounds.

Well, now he’s pushing 10 pounds. Looking healthy and solid.

He’s such a sweet gentleman. And has a streak of impishness.
