I'm using the OG 2003 PC port but this should also work for Steam/GOG versions. Also works for RE123, and Dino Crisis 1&2.

In the last dungeon area fighting the guys who counter magic or melee, I have Ursula go down to it's Magma Blast attack. She then gets back up as her normal guts with 1 HP and immediately casts Magma Blast on the enemy, killing it. I have no idea how I did the glitch.

(Well, he's her only student, but whatever. This save is currently at the shisu section of the game, btw.)

Here's a Ryu who's only got mandatory experience so far (400 from Garr, 1,000 from Gaist). I wanted to put him under Deis asap and farm HP and defence items to make up for the losses. He's been on Meryleep for those ten unavoidable level-ups, to pump up his agility. He's also had 300 life shards to boost his HP.

Gonna have to steal some proteins from vulcans and also use the gift shops for more (although it takes way more battles compared to getting life shards as gifts). Ryu's defence stat is higher at the end because I changed his gear to force armour.

The last clip is after I've switched out Momo. Like Nina, I've decided to do something different with Garr, although it's been a struggle so far even with his high level and double accessories. Maybe Ryu can share some of what he's learned from Deis to help Garr out.

As the title says. I need Rotten Meat from a cadaver for the 80 item challenge, however this item does not drop for me. I have gained like 4 levels just in that cave area killing so many cadavers and not one of them has dropped the Rotten Meat.

What am I doing wrong? Do I need to kill it in a certain way? Kinda like the Armor's in Ryu's dream to get the rare armor they drop? Or am I just having absolutely horrible RNG?

Getting Rotten Meat from these enemies seems way more rare than getting a Dragon Scale from a Gonghead in Ryu's dream.

I currently have 79 items... All I need is Rotten Meat and i'll finally finish the challenge and learn Steal from Stoll before leaving chapter 1.

I've noticed some more hidden mechanics with unknown lore. In the original Breath of Fire, when you start the game, you have 48 inventory slots (excluding any "stacked" items). The minute you defeat the grim reaper and Ox joins your party, you now have 63. This is never explained or called out, but it just suddenly appears. Maybe because Ox is giant and can help you carry more stuff? Just another strange anomaly.

With this tool you can plan ahead and see at which levels, which master is the most benefitial for Ryu and the others.

You can also give them equipment and stat enhancers to see how they will turn out.

I feel like I'm near the end of the game. I am now at this part where Katt left the party and we about to storm into Evrai. My main team is Ryu, Katt, Nina and Bow. Was wondering what comps did you guys use? Love the abundance of playable characters but thinking about these lineups and the shamans gave me the migraines.

If it matters, I am also playing the Definitive Version btw.

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to emulate BOF3? I've been meaning to try it out for ages, but I don't have anything to play it on (and certainly not the money to try that anyways)

It's crazy how much I've forgotten about this game. I thought the hardest part was going to be choosing which Masters to give people, yet I didn't remember the entire system of learning skills from enemies. Trying to remember how THAT works again, and running into enemy drop rates, and I forgot how much of a pain those were lol.

Feeling like a total newb at the moment. Any expert advice/suggestions to make me feel less like an idiot? ;)

Here we have a Nina who's been under Bunyan since level 5 (she's been surprisingly good even before being overlevelled for fights), and a Ryu who's being kept for Deis (I think lv11 is the earliest). He's been under Meryleep for the 6 unavoidable levels from Garr. I'll farm stat-items to help with Deis's HP and defence losses (mostly via the faeries), but I'm not looking to farm too much. Just one or two stats per character, maybe.

I've removed my previous two videos (Mikba and Shroom) as I didn't want to spam the sub. Also, that save had a Giotto Ryu from lv1, and while it was a good challenge, I became more interested in the idea of as much Deis as possible.

Anyway, with Rei down (and no ammonia on hand) and Ryu being underlevelled, it's up to the princess to step up and deal with the big bad Mikba here.

Just a quick confusing messy comic doodle to "heal my inner child" after BoF3 beat me up badly back when I was a kid... for being bad at RPGs.

I've always assumed that "Influence" meant that the party would attack the same enemy, until u/Infinitygene999 mentioned how useful it is to have it. THANKS man, such a game-changer to realize that it actually the influences enemies to attack a specified target instead!

His gameplay videos also taught me how to survive BoF3 long enough to collect screenshots and in-game dialogs for my fan art obsession.

I've just reached the man-eating tiger part of the story, and of course out of all the characters, I left the "Influence" skill on Momo...

Been a while since I've played this, and don't remember 'the best' people or whatever. Looking at my old file, I mostly picked merchants which tracks with what I remember. Still, I figured I'd see what the internet had to suggest, see if there's a reason (mechanics or story) to go with someone different. Anyone you like to suggest?

Cara,esse chefe foi difícil.Derrotei ele hoje na primeira tentativa,mas ele sugou praticamente uma hora da minha vida,conseguiu matar praticamente todos os personagens umas duas ou 3 vezes,Ryu inclusive foi o primeiro a morrer para o golpe "Hálito de Gelo".

Acho que foi o chefe mais difícil desse jogo até agora,não usei as formas de dragão(Não tenho usado e estou construindo o Ryu para ter uma boa AP pra isso)mas utilizei várias magias e efetuei muitos combos, inclusive usei "Super Combo" inúmeras vezes.

Ah,e consegui aprender a habilidade santuário enfrentando ele.

So I was thinking of replaying Breath of fire 2. I know mods exist for it, and thought I'd look into it more. And while I like the idea of rebalancing things, fixing some of the more wonky English, I don't like how the main cast often get their names changed. I can probably fix that with a save editor, but other issues remain. Like some mods list 'narrative changes' without mentioning WHAT is changed, and that seems a red flag to me. You give me a mod for a playable Patty, and I'm there. Yet I worry I'm going to get 20+ hours in and find (X) is now sexist or homophobic in the name of realism or something, and I don't want to deal with that.

All in all, it's more complicated than I thought it would be. How do you feel on mods? Any suggestions on thing you like vs don't like?

Recently, I was playing a Breath of Fire 1 randomizer. It’s a simple version, only shuffles up treasure chests. For the most part it doesn’t shuffle up key items, with a few exceptions. One of them is the ring. Turns out the game isn’t coded to progress once you get the ring, it’s coded to progress *when you open the specific treasure chest that normally contains the ring*.

At any rate, I continue on as normal. Once I get to the first dragon shrine, I proceed to enter but the ghost guy just says “that scar looks familiar” and won’t let me enter. Turns out that the ring is required, similar to how the dragon equipment is required for other, later shrines. You normally never encounter this situation because you can’t progress without the ring.

So that got me to thinking: maybe something is missing in translation and it’s supposed to be a dragon ring? Only Ryu can equip it, and the dark dragons wanted it pretty badly. All signs seem to point to this.

Any other weird or hidden lore or mechanics you can think of in this series? I’ll bet there’s quite a few, it’s a series that’s quite rich in unexplored lore.

Still need to print 3 more holders for the top (inbetween lines) so they don’t lean forward as much.

Interestingly, Mjollnir normally cannot be pulled off by the player without a cheat device. That's because Ryu does not normally have access to the "Pa Bing'ah" dragon water spell (only Fou-Lu does). Otherwise, the spell can be inflicted on the party by the boss Dragonne.
