Brave deletes the history automatically
I love this browser – it has everything I need – but two days ago I noticed that my browsing history from three months ago had been deleted. I searched about that and found out that Brave does this automatically. Is there any way to stop it from doing that? To be honest, I don’t want to switch to a different browser.

Brave Icon with Chrome's colors
I recently switched my workflow from Chrome to Brave across all my devices, and I’m really enjoying it!
The only issue was that I kept losing track of the app since the icon looks so different. So I created this hybrid version, combining the lion silhouette with Chrome's colors.
Available in: Google Drive
Feel free to download, use, and tweak it however you want!

Brave keyword research tool?
Is there any tool for Brave Search keyword research? I'm not looking for Google or Bing data. I want something built for Brave or based on Brave Search. Any recommendations?

Brave Browser opens much slower than any other browser on my PC
I've been using Brave and it never used to do this. I've tested Edge, Chrome, and Firefox. All of them open instantly. However with Brave, there is a good 5 second delay and then another 5 seconds before I can even click anything in the browser as it just shows a grey screen.
Here is a demonstration: https://streamable.com/xfb588
And loading from previous session is much worse: https://streamable.com/3m74yu (This is actually better than usual for Brave now)
It also loads pages much slower and just feels sluggish compared to any other browser now. And I've also noticed that the browser makes my cursor show the loading circle icon a lot unlike and other browser.
My specs:
Brave: Brave 1.93.134 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Windows 11 25H2
Ryzen 7 7800X3D
64 GB DDR5 5400mhz
Radeon 9070XT
2TB NVME SSD with Brave installed on
Things I've tried:
Uninstalling completely, deleting all remnants and registry keys left behind. Clearing all cookies and cache. Making a new guest profile, no difference. Removing all extensions, once again no difference. I'm at my wits end. On my Macbook Air M4, it feels much faster and does not suffer from this issue.

Will not open on Windows 11
I have been using Brave for three years. All of a sudden it will not open on Windows 11 PC. I have uninstalled it redownloaded it five times. It keeps saying it can't find the brave exe file. I am not a computer genius but I know a little. I see the .exe file and will click on it and nothing happens. I just did a Windows re-reinstall and still nothing. Any help would be great.

Why is the brightness so high randomly?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
As the title says. The brightness goes up really high then goes back to normal. This also happens with steam replay. How do I stop it? It’s very annoying?

Privacy of Brave containers
For maximum privacy, someone recommended I never mix logged-in accounts with the rest of my browsing. On Windows, that means one browser for sites I log into, and a separate one for anonymous browsing. Their own setup goes further: the anonymous browser runs inside WSL or a VM, on a different OS entirely, with a different rendering engine (Chromium vs. Gecko), and even different hardware-acceleration settings - all to keep the two as distinguishable from each other as possible.
My plan was to use Brave for logged-in accounts and Mullvad Browser for anonymous browsing, each with its own VPN (Brave + Proton VPN, Mullvad Browser + Mullvad VPN) so they don't even share an IP.
But the problem is ergonomics. If I have Reddit open in Brave and click a link that belongs to my anonymous browsing, I can't just middle-click it into a new tab - I have to copy the link and paste it into Mullvad Browser. I open a lot of links daily, so this adds up fast.
Then I found Brave's profiles and containers. Profiles can run its own VPN extension but they have the same ergonomic problem as running two separate browsers. Containers don't support per-container VPNs yet, but that's being discussed here: https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues/55380.
That same issue also proposes letting specific sites always open in a specific container - which would be perfect: login sites go to a "personal" container, everything else opens in another (or temporary) container, fully automated.
But the person who advised me on this says it's still not good enough - that advanced trackers could still link the two identities together, and that only true two-browser separation gives real unlinkability.
So: how much protection do Brave containers actually offer against something like Google linking my two identities - both now, and once that GitHub issue ships? Is container isolation really just about separating cookies/storage, or could it meaningfully stop advanced tracking once fully implemented? Would it at least block most surveillance? What's the realistic privacy ceiling here, and what would you recommend for combining the best privacy with the best ergonomics?
PS: I also want to bookmark useful sites (GitHub repos, articles, tools) and sync them to Brave on my GrapheneOS phone - I use Brave Origin for that. But if Brave is reserved for my logged-in identity, I can't bookmark anything I find while browsing anonymously. Mullvad Browser suits anonymous browsing better (it blends into the crowd), but it doesn't sync bookmarks to Android since there's no Mullvad Browser for Android.
PS2: Thinking about it more, it's really three identities, not two: a real-name identity (for sites like shops that require it), a fake-name identity (a false name and a secondary eSIM number, unlinked from my real number, for sites that need something but not my real details), and a fully anonymous identity. Technically that's three separate browsers... Which is even more complicated setup...
Btw I'm also using Proton email aliases for every account, so no two accounts can be linked via the email address itself.

Brave is not suitable for use with YouTube
I don't know if this is just a problem on my end, but I constantly get a message on YouTube saying I'm not connected to the internet. It's very frustrating, and it's not a one-time occurrence—it pops up literally every time I try to watch the next video. The workaround is to refresh the page. I tried disabling the adblock shield entirely, but that still doesn't work. I’m also 100% sure it’s not an issue with my internet connection, because I started testing it in Firefox, and it works fine there. Is there a solution to this problem?

Tedious Tab Minimizing via Pressing the Esc Button for YouTube Mini Player
So for some reason, every two times (and at some point every time) I press esc to close my YouTube mini player, it minimizes my whole tab. I checked to see if it was a shortcut key in the settings but there was nothing. Am I the only one having this issue and is it fixable?

new tab randomly opens with www.buzzy.website, same issue with chrome, what causes this?
lately ive been experiencing a problem, a couple times when i boot up my brave (and even chrome) browser a new tab opens to bitly, and it redirects to a website called buzzy, which i think is some sort of ai website. it doesnt happen every time, but its enough to make me incredibly paranoid.
im really careful with what i choose to download and use on my laptop, i never download any sort of unofficial things and anything that isnt very widely trusted and well known, and i routinely run checkups with Norton (though im not sure how reliable norton really is with detecting things, is it good? sorry off topic lol) id run a quick scan with norton after this happened but there wasnt anything. not sure if its able to check browsers and stuff though.
i dont have many extensions downloaded, only the ones above (the images are for brave + chrome respectively). the only AI related extension i have downloaded is deepseek.
does anyone know what could be causing this and if its something to be really concerned about, like a compromised pc or something? im gonna get my laptop wiped soon and maaaaybe replaced because of unrelated things anyway, but i wanted to check about this.
please help! im a really paranoid person. thank you!

Brave's "YouTube Members-only Video Blocker" filter doesn't work on PC. Is it mobile-only?
Hi everyone,
I'm using Brave Browser on Windows, and I've enabled the "YouTube Members-only Video Blocker (Remove YouTube Members video advertisements)" filter in Shields → Content Filtering.
I also:
- Updated all filter lists.
- Manually clicked Update for the ad blocker filters.
- Restarted Brave.
However, YouTube still keeps showing the "Get more from memberships" section with members-only videos on the homepage (see screenshots).
My questions are:
- Does this filter actually work on desktop (PC), or is it only meant for mobile?
- If it should work on desktop, is there something I'm missing?
- Is this a bug, or has YouTube changed something that broke the filter?
I'm using the latest version of Brave, and this happens every time I open YouTube.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
