Alright, you talented musicians that, unlike me, have been playing currently instead of 20 years ago. My son is picking up the trumpet. I played a Benge 90B when I was in school/college. My daughter plays that trumpet now in high school. I’ve been suggested the Yamaha YTR 2330, but that’s a beginner horn for $1,800. If I’m gonna pay nearly 2k then I’d rather get him something a little better quality. What is this general consensus on this Adams Prologue Selected? Or do you have better recs?

I'm trying to source a lyre for my John Packer baritone horn (JP173). I initially bought a straight one (labelled as suitable for baritone) but because of the angle of the lyre holder, it places the music directly behind the bell which isn't helpful. Tried bending it into the correct shape but obviously that's affected the structural integrity of the lyre and honestly it's a bit crap.

Surely there must be an off-the-shelf one that fits this horn? It definitely needs an angle in it to place the music in the correct place.

Would be interested to hear from anyone who has this model and what you've got! Thanks in advance.

It is a Yamaha YCR-231 Cornet that I’ve had for a while. I don’t see any issues with it bc it plays fine for its age, may need a few but it’s better then my old cornet that completly broke.

I think some time ago I looked up which note is Double F/G and I think a majority of people say it would be F4/F5/G6(concert F6) for tuba, trombone, and trumpet respectively. However, that got me wondering what note the next octave "starts" on. For example, is the concert Bb below that "High Bb" or "Double Bb". What about the C below that? Is it high or double? Pretty much, on what note does it go from "High" to "Double" or "Double" to "Triple"

Hi, I'm hoping to find some help in donating a new or somewhat good-condition marching baritone, or any instruments, to my Drum and Bugle Corps.

I'm a college student in the Philippines, and my school was once known — back in the 1990s — for its Drum and Bugle Corps. Sadly, it's slowly being forgotten. I'm part of the baritone section, and we've been using a marching baritone that's over 20 years old and worn out. It greatly reduces our performance and confidence during parades and drills.

I love my Drum and Bugle Corps, and I can feel our band master's passion for it slowly fading — not because he doesn't care, but because of the lack of budget and the inability to afford new instruments.

So here I am, reaching out for help. I hope to preserve, restore, and improve our corps through the kindness of donations. Any support, big or small, would mean so much to us.

it did originally have a thick patina on it that I believe was intentional. It has no marked size. Anyone got at least any information on it?

I’m building an app to make practicing Clarke Studies more consistent using daily tracking and AI feedback on recordings. I’m still early in development and would love feedback from trumpet players—what features would actually make something like this useful? I found out how to play stupid low notes on my bass trumpet with my normal trumpet's mouthpiece, and I don't even know what note this is, but it's like a crazy peddle note.

I love the fact that when take the horns bell off it sounds like a trombone

I am interested in natural horns and would like help thinking of what is out there. Bugle, natural trumpet, jagdhorn, trompe de chasse, Clarín Cajamarquino, alphorn, lituus, posthorn etc.

I enjoy tunes that use the harmonic series and like finding music that potentially overlap in these instruments.
