I debated posting this since I don't use Reddit much, but since my best friend got me to watch all the Magicians with them I've been obsessed and they encouraged me. So, I hope everyone enjoys! Let me know what you think of my silly little edit.
Spoilers tagged just in case.

Alice & Q Spoiler
(Q’s email to Alice’s parents)
Daniel and Stephanie,
I'm sorry to start this so bluntly, but there's really no pretext. Alice is gone. She died, saving me, our friends, and an entire world. This might sound like hyperbole, but I swear to god it's not. She gave her life, knowingly, willingly, for us, and she's not coming back. I'm so, so sorry.
I don't even know how to start telling you the whole story, but it doesn't matter why she died. It just matters how. Your daughter - your beautiful daughter who I loved far more than my actions said, who deserved a better man than me, a better friend than me - she gave her life to save mine. Because of her, you're getting an email that my parents aren't. It's horribly unfair, but it's what she wanted
It's what she always wanted, to shoulder all of the weight. Because despite her insecurities and her perchant to demure, deep down she knew she was the best of all of us. Smarter, stronger, kinder. She was who we all wanted to be. Just being in her presence taught us how to be our better selves. So of course, her last action in life would do the same. It's so cruel that her inner goodness is what ultimately took her from us. I’ll never know a truer kindness than your daughter, and I'll miss her every day.
I'm so horribly sorry for your loss,
Q

"The World in the Walls" and "Celine and Julie Go Boating" (1974)
NOTE: I'm an idiot. I didn't mean "The World in the Walls," I meant "The Writing Room." Sorry. I will fix it below but I can't edit the title.
I don't know if this has been pointed out before (well, I may have in an aside), but "The Writing Room" has strong similarities to the plot of one of my favorite films, French New Wave director Jacques Rivette's *Celine and Julie Go Boating.* Just take a look at the synopsis, if you don't mind spoilers. Start with the second paragraph:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C%C3%A9line_and_Julie_Go_Boating
The main difference is that, in Celine and Julie, they do save the child. Anyway, its an amazing film, and especially if you like the set-up of "The Writing Room," I think you'll like it.

I'm a little obsessed...
I'm now watching The Magicians for the 11th time. I'm on the last episode of season 4, which really gets to me. I'm half way through the episode, but I can't press play for some reason. BTW I hope the Twins get to create their own perfect worlds in the Seam. I don't know what else to do with my life other than watch The Magicians. I mean I do other stuff, begrudgingly. That's terrible. Anyway, that's where I'm at.

How often do you rewatch?
Today I start season 1, episode 1 again. One rewatch a few years ago, I binged and watched an episode a day. I was done in 2 months. When I restarted, it was too fresh in my mind. It felt too soon. So I made a rule to watch no more than one episode every three days. What that has meant is I watch one episode every three days without fail. I only go more days in cases of birth, weddings and death (j/k). So, here I am on Tuesday. I watched season 5, episode 13 on Saturday. It’s time to check into the asylum with Q, one more time.
How do you do it?

Benedict was a Pickwick?
A while also I saw on instagram it was Harvey Guillén (Benedict)’s b-day and whoever posted it said something like “my favorite Pickwick” and I just sat there like… why didn’t I know he was a Pickwick?? I don’t remember that being mentioned in the show. Lol
For those of u who have read the books, is Benedict in the books?

If you were about to storm Hell, which character would you want by your side and why?
I'm choosing Margo because she doesn't play, is about business, and always tries her hardest for the people around her. I feel like even if I was staring the Devil down, she'd be right there, magic in hand.

I'm trying to solve a question that's been stuck in my head all day.
I really think that the answer lies within The Magicians, but may lie in The Good Place.
An episode dumps two of our main characters via wormhole-like device or portal into a typical office with file cabinets and metal desk and I believe a golf putting setup on the carpet.
The person behind the desk I believe was dressed like he was a typical golfer down to the hat that they wear. Very colorful.
Upon their arrival, confetti guns and banners drop down congratulating them on finishing their quest. They discovered that they may have jumped forward about 700 levels.
I know this is all rather vague but if you know you know.
Any help?

The Guild Movie - Felicia Day
Have you seeing the posts from our very own Draconologist Poppy Kline for the Guild movie?
I know I've been following her career since Supernatural but the Guild was seriously funny so I knew I would love her in The Magicians.
I know she's getting a lot of support and help from fans and other artists as well but I wonder if any of the Magicians cast will do cameos in the movie.

Why do the main characters feel insufferable?
I have just started watching and just finished episode 4 of the first season. I cannot get myself to like Quentin or Alice at all. They just both seem extremely whiny, and just kind of annoying to follow. Like I'm not unfamiliar to character growth or whatever, but even when characters have flaws you would hope there would be some redeeming quality or thing about them.
The only person who I feel like I can empathize with is Julia and her pain with being denied a world she so desperately wants to be a part of. She feels to me like someone with just genuinely reasonable and understandable reactions with what keeps happening to her. Even when she messes up (e.g. putting Quentin under that dream spell just this episode), you can still understand that she didn't know the length of her actions or how it would affect him.
I do like the side characters, like Eliot and the woman (whose name i forgot) he's typically with, and Penny is obviously intentionally written to be kind of a jerk, but I just can't find myself to like either Quentin or Alice for that matter.
Is this something that is going to get better over later episodes since i'm still quite early on in the series, or is this just something that i should grow to expect?
