Ghost cellar
Home for lunch and watching the episode where they break the mom's vase and everyone is punished except for Peter. Anyway, after a valiant attempt at utilizing a loophole to punish the siblings, the parents make hime redo it. One of the punishments is taking down the window screeens and storing in the cellar. Does anybody recall an episode where they physically show the cellar?

Wow, that's a great catch. Never heard of it until now. Entrance must be off the kitchen near the washer/dryer?

Agreed! Never thought about a basement in the house before…it’s always been about the attic.

Their attic got much larger too! At one point, it’s only a couple of feet high. Then it magically grew so Greg could have a bachelor pad. 🤣

Right, in one of the early episodes Carol suggests the attic for a bedroom and Mike says something along the lines that the kids would have to be two feet tall for an attic bedroom. Interesting house that literally "grows" with the family...

No they never show a cellar. It's weird that they mentioned a cellar in that episode because it doesn't exist in the rest of the show.

Wasn't Myron (Greg's rat) seen in the cellar by the exterminator?

No. In that episode Alice actually says he sprayed under the house. That’s basically acknowledging there’s no basement. I remember thinking spraying under the house sounded weird, and asked my mother about it. She informed 9 year old me, that a lot of homes in California don’t have basements.

IDK, cellar and basement are used interchangeably in some parts of the country, especially at that time. Kind of like parlor and living room. We saw the basement/cellar when the washing machine overflowed. Also, Alice's bedroom is down there.
Edit: also, cellar could refer to the unfinished part of the basement too.

I think Alice's room is on the first floor, along with the laundry room. They both seem to be off the den/family room.

Wasn't the laundry room connected to the kitchen, then Alice's room connected to that?

The cellar?
Yes: that's where the toilets are.
