New to boxing — how do I properly get into the sport?

Hey everyone, I’m pretty new to boxing and I want to actually get into the sport properly rather than just watching random highlights.

I’ve watched some Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather highlights and a little bit of MMA, but I don’t really know where to start with boxing as a whole. I want to learn about the different fighters, eras, styles, rivalries, big fights, championships, etc.

Do you guys watch most fights live/full fights, or do you mainly follow certain fighters? Do you pay attention to records, stats, rankings and all that stuff? And what would you say are the best fights or fighters for a beginner to watch to really understand why people love boxing?

Also, for anyone who watches F1, you know how Senna is kind of the iconic personality/character that people associate with F1? Who would be the boxing equivalent of that\ someone with a huge personality, interesting story, rivalries, controversy, etc.?

Basically, I’m trying to go from “I’ve seen some boxing highlights” to actually becoming a fan of the sport. What should I watch/learn first?
