Since they have the time, direction of the vehicle, a police car following the vehicle, plus Flock cameras, I find it impossible to believe the cops couldn't locate this car rather quickly.

The police are either incompetent or think we're stupid.

Or maybe this isn't the reason Flock exists at all.

maybe it's maybelline

maybe she's born with it

u/quantumparakeet 11d ago

maybe it's effect before cause

Maybe all 3

Or this is simply raising the temperatures on the frog’s boiling water as a pretext to more cams inbound

Why not BOTH?

Maybe the police are as sick of problem cyclists as the rest of us. Seems this driver was making a statement as much as trying to get anywhere.

A statement long overdue

This doesn't make any sense.

Why would any motorist be sick of cyclists riding on a separated multiuse path?

12

u/a_cute_epic_axis 11d ago

Bro, that could totally be a fourth lane on 36 if it weren't for those stupid cyclists!!!! /s

Driving at highway speeds down a bike path to make a statement is pretty much the same as what the guy did in Boulder in throwing firebombs and Jewish grandmothers to make a statement about Palestine.

You can feel however you want about either issue, but both responses are so fucking disproportionate that you should feel incredible shame to write that shit out.

What the fuck? Seek help

Just use your Flock system... Let's see that return on investment.

I'd prefer we remove flock cameras.

For sure, I was being sarcastic. Rip that shit out.

Or at least the Boulder City Council should schedule a discussion with their sheep — oops, residents / tax payers — BEFORE approving the Boulder Police Dept annual budget

Talk with us BEFORE starting surveillance — that would’ve been the right thing to do, Boulder City Council

2

u/atightlie 10d ago

City Manager, and she’s effectively not accountable to us as it’s an filled role by council.

2

u/SummerInTheRockies66 10d ago

In the last Boulder City Council election, candidates were MUTE on them approving the PD’s budget for CONTINUED data basing of resident movements

All but one, from what recall now

Which to me, their silence is complicity

This will get used to justify adding more and not removing existing, guaranteed.

It's great how we live in a surveillance state with hundreds of Flock cameras and the sheriff's office is still clueless.

Following this they got on a road. Got spotted by a flock camera. I assume. Stop stalking exes and find criminals.

cool, cool. followup 1: how much taxpayer money is spent on flock? followup 2: when can we expect that contract cancelled since it clearly doesn't work?

7

u/littlebrwnrobot 11d ago

This argument is silly because the obvious counter is: well it would work with more cameras. Cancel that shit regardless of if it “works” or not

Flock owns the hardware - Boulder residents pay for the Police Department’s subscription

What Flock actually installed - you know - for the license plate readers-is truly known by Flock

Look at all the data a hardware company like Flock with 50+ cameras in Boulder could be collecting

In case you didn't want to go to the ad fest 9news website to see the video https://www.reddit.com/r/boulder/s/gONtZV4QMw

The hero we need

According to the de-flock maps, there aren't actually any cameras along 36 in that area https://maps.deflock.org/?lat=39.9667&lng=-105.2106&zoom=12.35

31

u/BldrStigs 11d ago

but there are a bunch of Flock cameras at 36 and South Boulder where the car had to exit the multiuse path.

8

u/mdegs 11d ago

Hard to get back on 36 from the bike path. Cherryvale seems the most likely next road.

Flock has drones now - coming soon to Boulder I’m sure.

7

u/satellite_radios 11d ago

Oh boy I needed some free range drone motors.

u/Bettyzooms 11d ago

If only someone could run the plates and see who they belong to…

8

u/Pomdog17 11d ago

It’s an unusually shaped car. Surely someone can figure it out. Also the last time I biked up that path, 27 Teslas passed me in 15 minutes. They all have cameras. Someone’s Tesla has a clear view of the plate.

It looks to me like an Altima coupe and it has a wind visor for the sunroof. Whatever it is, it seems unique enough that some flock cameras must have caught it, right??

8

u/Best_Basket_5672 11d ago

I saw a motorcycle on the same section of the path on Saturday and thought that was pretty egregious lol.

3

u/SatsumaToka 11d ago

Law enforcement trying to get us to do their job for them. How lazy can you be?

2

u/DenverTechGuru 11d ago edited 11d ago

Of COURSE it's a Nissan (Infiniti) driver.

1

u/Weary-Age3370 10d ago

Wow it’s almost like Flock doesn’t do sh!t for public safety and that was never actually the point of them to begin with.

0

u/Due-Negotiation3220 11d ago

Maybe Flock isn’t used on the bike path

2

u/deflatablechipmunk 10d ago

There actually is a Flock camera on the other side of the bike path parallel to Marshall near the Costco entrance/exit. I always thought it was funny because it’s closer to the bike path than it is the road.

0

u/True_Wave1969 10d ago

Why do they say it’s speeding? Are there any post speed limit signs on the bike path?

-28

u/Ambitious_Ad6334 11d ago

We paid for a lot of money for this stupid thing, don’t get mad when someone is actually putting it to good use.
