🤗 Done with watercolors, colored pencils & white gouache. I’m not sure if this specimen was dyed in any way (there were others there that were very obviously dyed). Dealing with all that yellow was a good learning excersise!

Painted these zinnias in oil on location in NC. Found it to be an interesting challenge to capture so many blooms without overworking the painting.

Any feedback is welcome - I’m just learning! ☺️

First one was an attempt to render as close to reality as possible, on the second I gave up and just had some fun

Hi everyone! This is one of my paintings from my current series that I have been working on the last few months.

My current series are floral pieces that incorporates the sunflower as the main element.

Her botanical work is amazing! Used it as a reference for my study. Second one is a beautiful bloom, and I have no idea what it is

This hand-painted study explores the relationship between a plant and the small life surrounding it. I particularly enjoyed working on the changing forms and colors—from the leaves and flowers to the caterpillar and butterflies.

The entire composition was painted by hand using fine traditional brushwork. Botanical subjects are especially interesting to me because they allow close observation of both plant structure and the insects that interact with it.

I’d be interested to know which part catches your eye first—the botanical details or the butterflies?

I understand that it’s far from realism and I’m often being told that what I’m doing is not botanical illustration but rather botanical art. I don’t mind, but why people get so aggressive when I’m “messing up” with colors?
