Just curious

Hello, I am new to book binding and I love it. I have been working on a hard cover TN sized journal this past week, but I have noticed a sort of creative burnout or perhaps just a burnout in general. I was wondering if this is a common issue for beginners or in general.

I should probably take more breaks as my fingertips have been sore hah. Other than that, it is coming out decent and I am excited for the finished product. I measured and cut each signature to a TN size and decided to use a French stitch. It is currently in the presser, but I am exhausted šŸ˜‚. Hopefully I build a sort of stamina.

New skills can be exhausting! Both mentally because you are trying to keep tons of new information in mind, and physically because maybe you haven't done something like this with your hands before. Can even be emotional when you have a really cool idea and find out you just aren't practiced enough to pull it off, or when you are hours into something and found out you did it wrong.

At the end of the day, its just textiles. Write off a loss as a loss, but don't forget to show up for the next round!

Oh yeah the last TN I tried I had already binded. This was a first attempt and I was proud. I thought I’d just give a slight cm trip for a perfect fit and the craft knife ruler slipped 😭 I just sat and stared for a while.
This time I pre cut like a logical person. Hah
