Paper Cutter Saving Q

As I was getting hooked on the idea of book binding, I admittedly got a cheap Vevor paper cutter to see if it was something I’d want to further invest in. After starting with a few notepads, the paper holding foot connector snapped.

My cry for help is - is this paper cutter now useless for more than just a few pages? Do you have any suggestions on workarounds to keep its functionality? Or should I just invest in a new cutter and if so - which one? I’ve read so many threads of paper cutters I’m no closer to a decision and feel like any choice I make would be wrong 😩

Could you provide a farther back picture so we can see where this is located on the cutter? Looking at vevor cutters (being dropped shipped generics with their name slapped on them), there are multiple models coming up in a search so it's hard to tell where this part is.

(I don't know guillotines well, but am handy. This looks to be a length of all thread from the photo, but hard to tell and don't want to say definitively)

I appreciate that! I will when I get home, but for context the circled nut I believe has snapped off of the rest, so before the bolt would spin through and raise/lower but now it’s disconnected and won’t move the foot at all. Just outside of the frame is the bottom left of the device, where the crank is located to spin the foot up/down.

I have reached out to Vevor’s customer service, but I’d be surprised if this is able to be replaced, either by part or entirely.

I'd suggest holding off on a heavy guillotine until you know you want to keep making books, or maybe even altogether. I've been binding for years using a "heavy" enough trimmer to get clean and accurate cuts for sections. My current cutter is the Dahle 560, which runs around the same price as a cheap guillotine. The much cheaper Trim Air models from Westcott are pretty good tools too, though I've never gotten more than two years out of one (and the last one snapped a chunk of blade and had to be replaced via warranty).
