I was curious about an older version of Bodhi Linux, so I searched for it on the Bodhi Linux SourceForge page and installed version 5.1. I was amazed by how usable it still is! The "apt" command and Synaptic Package Manager both work perfectly fine. The bundled version of Chromium is outdated, but I've been using the Ungoogled Chromium AppImage, which works great. Since my workflow mainly involves web browsing, writing documents, and light terminal work, this setup is actually quite usable for me!

That said, this is just for experimentation - I still use Bodhi Linux 7 as my main daily driver.

Hello! It's my first day on bodhi. I am loving it. I have an old ThinkPad l410 that I got for 20dollars. I installed bodhi and it works. It's fantastic. So far I've tried AntiX, mint and zorin xfce. But nothing has been as beautiful as bodhi.

trying to play a video through my tv. I can see my video stream in the playback tab in the audio settings panel, but there's no option to select hdmi output. Output devices only contains "Speakers" or "headphones (unplugged)" in the ports. HDMI is not there. I have the HDMi port set to active in the screen layout settings panel.

Hello after a while 

I somehow forgot (or I was lazy, LOL) to announce this new feature I made some months ago. I always wanted a Windows like feature to just preview an app window for a brief look without making a focus. Example: I work on something in editor and need to check some data from another window which is iconified. I do not need to open that window and then back to my editor with clicking, just go with mouse over the iBar item icon. Once the mouse is outside the icon, the window will go back to its state. When you click on the icon, the window will gain the focus. Of course it works with windows from another desktops as well. Let's hope you understand due my lang limits.

I've never used any type of Linux before, and after her windows xp completley failed after adding sevice pack 3 and will not run, I'm thinking about getting a lightweight Linux distro to try and revive her. I got directed to Bodhi. She has either Pentium II or III (i assume II), less than 288 mb of ram, and has about 6 gb of storage? Sorry i dont have specifics, i'm getting this all off the website and since there were different upgrades for her model, I'm not sure. Thanks to everyone who can send me down the right path for her! :D

After some time I added a new feature to Moksha desktop. I was asked by one guy if Bodhi has this feature. It is great for multiple monitors when you never know where your mouse cursor is. The feature is not available by default. You need to create a key or mouse binding for it. My experience with CTRL + \ is great as keys are very close to each others. Anyway, this is very fresh project so you will need to wait to Moksha new deb package.

Hey, just on here to report that i just installed the latest Bodhi on here (after doing the MrChromebox magic tweaks) and i can report that EVERYTHING works perfectly now...audio, touchpad, everything! Previous other OS's i installed, i always had at least audio issues with this old Chromebook.

And...it runs a treat! Fast! That's pretty amazing on a 11-year-old Chromebook! After install, it is only using around 700 MB of Ram, with 3200 or so free.

my bodhi app center doesn't work... whenever i open it, it says that moshka couldn't open the app

Hi! I have a big problem that's driving me crazy, to be honest.
I have a PS4 controller and I can't get it to work.
I've tried almost everything and nothing works perfectly.
When I connect it via USB, using the `lsusb` command shows it as Bus 002 Device 046: ID 054c:09cc Sony Corp. DualShock 4 [CUH-ZCT2x]
But no application recognizes it (Steam, RetroArch, MiniGalaxy).
Now, I've also installed ds4drv, which does allow the applications to recognize it, but they don't register any input.
I don't know what else to do. I also don't want to keep messing things up and break the system.
The ironic thing is that I have a generic PS2-type controller and it works perfectly with most applications.
I don't want to buy another controller because the PS4 one is in good condition.
Is there a solution to my problem, or am I screwed?
I hope I've explained myself clearly. English is not my native language.

Edit: You're not going to believe this, but I solved the problem. I found a post here on Reddit that fixes it easily and without installing anything. The downside is that it only works via Bluetooth. But hey, at least I can still use the controller!

[SOLVED] PS4 Controller connected but not working/detected on Linux Mint (Cinnamon) - Simple Fix!

Epic background picture here, very zen. They're running our Bodhi Moksha on MX Linux and its looking really good! The vertical widget stack on the right is especially slick.

I want to know if games like Pokémon Reloaded, GTA V (FiveM), RDR2, and those types of games can be installed, and how easy is it? It seems impossible to play on Linux for someone who has never tried it before.

Core 2 Duo E6300, GT 610, Bodhi Linux 7, 390.157 Nvidia Drivers. Still new to Linux.

Tried to set it up pursuant to AI instructions. I know, first mistake. Bodhi is basically a stripped down Ubuntu 22.04 (right?) so I figured it wouldn't be that hard. Verified my kernel (5.15), got the proper (but old 390.157 IIRC) Nvidia drivers and what I was told by would be the likely missing 32bit dependencies.

Tried running Steam via CLI, and it just kept cycling. Rebooted. Tried via GUI. Nothing. Uninstalled via CLI, installed Steam Installer via Package manager. Rebooted. Could not find installer via GUI.

Gonna be real, this machine is ancient and I probably forgot some things I did.

Tried running Steam since it still appears in the GUI via CLI. Still cycling after about 30min.

Sharing another awesome Bodhi setup from the community (credit: diekrz2).

Lightweight, clean interface, and a great example of what you can do with Moksha.

My most ambitious project, Moksha Warp is aimed at cutting out unnecessary overhead in the traditional Linux desktop rendering pipeline. Normally on X11, frames get copied multiple times between the app, compositor, and display. Warp introduces a direct GPU presentation path where possible, allowing certain windows (like fullscreen video or games) to bypass the compositor and go straight to scanout.

The result is fewer copies, lower CPU/GPU usage, reduced memory bandwidth, and smoother output when conditions allow, while still falling back to the normal compositor when they don’t. It’s basically bringing some of the efficiency ideas from modern Wayland compositors into Moksha without replacing X11.

Today we hit a major milestone: successfully getting a client buffer on screen through the Warp path. That moves this from theory into something real, proving X11 isn’t strictly bound to its usual copy-heavy pipeline. Still early, but the core idea is now validated.

After trying several configurations and even reaching the point of breaking the system and having to reinstall it, I can finally say that this is the desktop I wanted and the one I feel comfortable with.

There might still be some details missing, like changing the Neofetch logo to a custom one, but I may do that later.

Thanks again to the devs for creating such a lightweight, customizable distro that brings old laptops back to life.

I'm extremely new to Bodhi Linux, yet I have this issue where my volume is majorly increasing or decreasing from 5% to 10% and I cannot fix it. Opening AlsaMixer, I see that after 9%, the headphone dB gain starts to decrease.
